No, they sat in a conference room and decided they were going to release it anyway, despite the amount of issues the game had. So yeah, intentional.
Simple deadline!
Microsoft ultimately makes the decision to release.
Almost all of the issues mentioned in this thread appear normal to me and not unexpected or suspicious. I accept MSFS 2024 as an Open Beta marketed as a full release. I don’t necessarily fault Asobo or Microsoft for making a decision to release “early”, as I am amazed by the potential of the game. I can see (demeanor in the Dev Update) that Asobo is genuinely continuing to persue their wonderful vision for it. That much is obvious, and why I don’t complain about the myriad of bugs in the game.
However, there are specific “bugs” that do appear to be malicious to me, due to when they occur and the circumstances where users are likely to encounter them. IMO.
Time to Laugh out loud rather than become frustrated.
So latest update installed … pretty smotth couple of free flights…but i am a bit fed up because the only aircraft that is worth flying , standard edition, is the 172. Tried to get my Blacksquare TBM to work but there is no engine sounds.
Anyway…i thought…wait there is all this development into the Career mode…that might be fun…I chose career mode and…crash to desktop …hilarous
I seem to recall that any topic in this forum is limited to 2000 replies? Getting close here, and it’s kind of sad that this particular subject has almost reached that number in one month.
You are completely missing the point. The OP suggested that it was done to upset its customers. No one at MS/Osobo sat around and said, how can we upset our customer base. I have an idea, we can add a bunch of bugs to the game, there should help us to miss our revenue targets.
looks like MS/Asobo keep doing what they did with FS2020, release, try to fix it, call it fixed and move on…
Same with the PC24 and a thousend other things they messed up.
Asobo/MS should have delayed the game by 3 months or released a fully open 1 week beta for us to help uncover the bugs.
They knew the game was buggy and unfinished. This is why there weren’t any press reviews of the full game.
The state of this product is no different than most other products these days, get it out of the door!
From a personal standpoint I felt ill at ease and waited a little bit to get the game. Reading the boards here is a bit heavy. Just about al the planes have issues that are mind blowing, all of them. It is one thing to have working but incomplete systems but that is not the case here. The Cessna basic issue, inibuilds aircraft crashing the sim when exiting to main menu, the PC24 debacle and Vision Jet landing lights to name a few…
Regardless of the reason behind this it is disingenuous to the customers. Taking almost 200 euros for a product that is so incomplete is not very nice. The planes is what makes the sim, the scenery is secondary to me.
Disappointed to be treated like this but it is a game after all.
They did manage to build the worse UI on the planet. On purpose or not, it is an achievement.
You made this comment and then the rest of your statement went on to prove that this release was in a state worse than most games being released today.
Something is getting worse with the network situation. Today I could not accomplish anything in Career Mode due to freezing screen or even start a fairly simple flight I used to do regularly in FS2020 because of CTD when I click on Fly Now. Tried with and w/o using VPN’s and the speed test numbers have not reduced compared to when I was having no problems last week.
The basic concept of streaming all this data is proving to be unworkable. I do use the rolling cache option but suspect that only helps framerate and doesn’t protect against server or network glitches.
If not for the network/server problems I could tolerate the existing level of bugs in the aircraft if I knew they were being addressed. The rosy statements from Asobo management are simply infuriating.
I had that in the inibuilds A320 V2 (not a plane I normally fly as it would be the Fenix , but I thought I would just check it out…its a poor relation by the way to Fenix , not even close but hey ho ).
Anyway on Vatsim final approach to LEBB rwy 30 (a Gaya handcrafted airport for MSFS 2024) I got clearance from the tower controller on Vatsim for the ILS approach to RWY30 and landed fine then suddenly the aircraft fell down a hole in the tarmac , which was invisible to see , it didn’t crash , but it was just stuck on the runway , no amount of thrust would get it to move and applying rudder saw it jag to the side a bit , but nothing …bit embarrassing especially on Vatsim , controller was understanding as I had to disconnect from the network …
Haven’t gone back to LEBB since , but might try to reproduce the hole in the runway for a laugh just in a free flight (not on Vatsim).
Also at LEMG a handcrafted airport , All I get on the stand and the whole apron are pink textures covering the whole area , the runway is fine but forget about the immersion when all the gate areas and apron are covered in PINK !!!
Back to 2020 for Vatsim flights , at least I know my airports are all there and working fine , PMDG aircraft I have I can fly and a smooth end to a long flight).
What i will say about 2024 flying airliners , the lighting is very good now that they have fixed the ridiculous airport lighting which is more realistic now , but the whole of the sim even at night just seems too bright still inside and outside of the cockpit …!!!
Speaking of, this reminds me. The Xbox Cloud Gaming page still has a 2023 release date for MSFS 2024 on it. Who knows, maybe they tried to push for a 2023 release until someone decided it was not good enough and delayed it to 2024. Whatever it is, somebody clearly forgot to change the release date to actual.
As long as we have purchased the sim, Asobo will only care about our opinions of the software if we publish negative reviews online.
So if we want the sim to improve we need to all keep sending in bug reports and putting our findings in other forums beyond this one.
the question is, why is outsourced to the customer what is a task for quality control? let me guess:

lets take a guess:
developing FS2024 costs around 120-150 million, server upkeep for a year could be around 140-160 million? Would mean, someone like Bill Gates could pay for all of it, out of his own pocket, for 700 years. But again:

There are extensive bug reports just in this forum, even for MSFS case, and they just keep adding them to a never ending list. If there was a real wish to correct things after 4 years of MSFS we should have maybe just a few things remaining to be fixed but according to the official bug lists published periodically this list is never short.
The real situation is that the original MSFS project turned to be too expensive to maintain and this pattern will just go worse as time passes by. The only solution MS/Asobo invented to solve it was to add more new content, hoping that users forget about the old bugs and that resulted in a ton of DLCs and the new FS2024. However this just made the problem bigger as new content brings new bugs as well. We have just seen this with FS2024 release, where the existing MSFS ported content was not even checked at all and even the new added features (career or streaming) didn´t work well either.
Sorry but this is how I see it. This turned to be a fire and forget nosense. I don´t see significant improvements in the game evolution, to be honest:
- They abbandoned MSFS monthly patching because things were broken too frequenly and that turned to be a situation were things continued broken but with users having to wait several months instead of one for things to be refixed
- They gave priority to FS2024 development and that resulted in the amazing release that we all know
- They started with weekly hotfixes for FS2024 and just after a month they moved to quarterly SUs again, so with users having to wait months for things to be fixed once more
- They will start to sell DLCs by next year without having fixed the base FS2024 features yet or without having published all premium content that was already sold with the special editions upon release
Same approach as usual, just using a new game title. And this happens because users continue to eat whatever they give to them, no matter the quality it has. So MS/Asobo does those things because they can, because that´s easier for them and because users accept that this is normal.
If we really want to improve this game we should simply not contribute to this approach. Basically we should not report any bugs nor purchase more things. Does FS2024 need 2 more years? Fine, we can wait. Does FS2024 need more testing? Fine, hire more testers. Does FS2024 need more money to pay all those things? Sorry, it´s not our problem. You took the decision to go the easy path so now you will deal with the consequences of that decision. Welcome to market ![]()
Cheers
I fully agree. I got my refund today, I’m not a no pay beta tester for the richest company on the planet. They can sort it out themselves, if they can . 2020 gives me everything I need in a SIM for the moment. I may revisit it on a gamepass basis in the future and decide to purchase 2024 if it meets my criteria.
Probably, the best month of the year to earn quick money is November.
Not for the 3rd party devs who they are leaving in the cold without a market place until 2025…
