Default settings, MSFS 2024 and this Logitech 3D Extreme Pro joystick… forget it!
Has anyone succeed with playing the game with this setup?
Helicopter is impossible. Unable to use throttle or anythhing. I easily flips over, can’t adjust power, nothing works. Really unrealistics flying.
Any advice is really welcome, have waited so long for this game, and now the fly experience is currently very low. On my Xbox it’s “ok”, but still very shady.
Apparently, there are some defaults for plane controls, even if I need to calibrate a bit, but it’s playable for the get go…why is it not the same for helicopters?
Extremely disappointing, Most widely used midrange joystick in MSFS and its identified as Saitek 3D then below it says Logitech… and very difficult to set-up again to be like in MsFS2020 - I had to spend 30 minutes searching and adjusting just to make the hat switch move freely around flight deck. Spacebar doesn’t increase seat height like in 2020… and today I’ll waste another 30 minutes putting together a list of 2020 controls and then coping them in 2024 + the Xbox controller has incorrect mappings also so will waste more time trying to solve that… Common Microsoft surely in 2024 you can do better than this… You have Copilot AI which could have crosslinked every MSFS2020 users control preset and migrated across to MS2024 as a file which each user could have loaded in seconds to save many hours of head scratching just to get the controls right again…especially for those that have very complex settings…
I also use a Logitech 3D Extreme Pro that is many years old and has worked well for many flight sims. I did replace the yaw pot at one time.
It is important to calibrate it often. I usually do this before starting every flight sim session. The pots get dirty and will not be centered most times.
Then in the sim, I turn down the sensitivity a lot and reduce the extreme values. This adds much more control around the center. You also have to trim the aircraft well so you are only using the middle of the throw. Avoid the extreme limits of the axis.
I would never dare to claim MS started the sale out of all things in Advent-time 2024 not withstanding a sac of detected bugs and gaps. Therefore within the next few weeks we (consumers i.e. investors in an assumed valuable product) will face an almost uncountable number of free MS-updates in order to make all of us happy, simultaneously fly, and let us praise MS for their insight, generosity and their natural as well as their artificial intelligence, for eternity. Amen.
What is the current state for MSFS 2024 + Logitech 3D Extreme Pro for PC users? I’m waiting on purchasing MSFS 2024 until this is reasonably fixed. If this is not yet fixed, when is there a patch/functionality planned?
I played MSFS 2024 Tech Alpha, and I could not get the Logitech 3D to work at all, but I figured it was just an Alpha version with stripped functionality and for sure it would be at least on par with MSFS 2020 for the paid release.
@Ph1LDK yes I absolutely fly with this setup. It takes some time to map it to any custom configuration but it works great. Check that you don’t have multiple commands mapped to any controls. That is easy to have happen and will completely mess up your flight obviously. FWIIW that has been my flight stick since MSFS 2004 but I just started with the Thrustmaster HOTAs 1 and I have to say am really enjoying it.
I just plugged in the 3d Pro and flew. MS2024 recognized the 3d Pro immediately. I have all assistance settings OFF. My helicopter experience is limited so maybe the default settings wouldn’t be acceptable to all, but it seemed to work OK for me.
Update: Went back in and noticed I had set the Collective to the Slider X Axis. Otherwise I don’t think the collective was assigned at all with the default settings!
