MSFS 2024 Preorder

I will certainly not be rushing to buy the new product when they haven’t managed to get the present edition right.
I wonder if the ATC will have any idea about the flight plan details?
I also note that there is a long discussion about cloud quality. How much improvement can we expect after four years of thick black smoke being their best effort for contrails at night, even on a moon lit night where the clouds show up pale?
It amazes me that people whinge about a missing smoke emitting grommet or such like when there are major unfixed flaws!
Just my opinion!

Let me introduce myself

I definitely won’t be preordering. Can’t see the point personally. I will wait a bit to see what state the new sim is in at launch and what it offers over and above FS20. I will also be seeing what real users think about it rather than what certain Youtubers tell us it is like.

It won’t be a day one purchase either for the same reasons.

This is not to say though that I am not excited to hear more about it and see what new features it might give us. Hopefully it will be good and it will be an early purchase for me.

So that we Asians get a chance to catch it live. I suppose.

I won’t preorder. I want to see what improvements are actually in the game and not what marketing says are in there. I also want to hear from forum members on the good and bad of the game. I also want MS to fix their servers first. I’ve been burned before on the preorder thing. Never again.

Amen! This exactly.

I won’t be buying any more addons until after msfs2024 is out why buy them when msfs2024 will probably have its on marketplace November 19 is around the corner.

No need to pre-order…as we learned from the 2020 release, the way to get early and reliable download is…to move to Kiribati!

No preorders. What’s the point.

30 people repeating the same thing really stupid and honestly kinda embarrassing, let people do what they want.

One situation where I see pre-ordering being beneficial is for people who might not have a lot of disposable income and want to guarantee that they get to play on release, so they pre-order while they have a little extra to spend.

Well, last year I made the promise to this forum to save all my Microsoft Rewards to prove that people can purchase the new version with just their rewards. I have been saving my rewards, and I will be able to do that. It would be nice to be able to use my rewards as normal.

The second reason would be to be able to download before release date. The software won’t fire up without the servers. But this will be a Game Pass Day 1 release. The download servers will take a dramatic hit day 1. You will get people who will just download day 1, fly over their house, then never touch the sim again, just like all prior releases of MSFS 2020 (PC launch, XBox launch, Game Pass Launch).

For airline pilots, I can see waiting. For bush pilots, the advantages between versions is pretty clear already.

I really want to see what versions we get…

Hopefully another 3-tier system with extra planes for the top 2.

Also, the A330 is the only new airliner so far. I’m sure there will be 1 or 2 more revealed and they will belong to the premium and deluxe versions of the simulator.

I can’t wait for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 it looks way better than 2020 let’s hope the FPS is way super than 2020. More Realistic weather than 2020 and can’t wait for the preorder to be release soon.

Unless MS gives an early access for pre-order users, it literally make no sense to take the risk to pre-order something you do not really know.

Gamepass tends to give the same benefit. An early download so it is playable by the time it drops.

Have they given a price yet then?

No pricing information or specs have been released.

I will probably hold off on any early adoption because of my reliance on the myriad tools and utilities I currently take for granted. I assume nearly every one of the apps/tools I use will need updates, so I may wait until some critical mass is reached.

Navigraph
LittleNavMap
Volanta
Add On Linker
Mobiflight
FSLTL
PMS/GTN Avionics
Remote MCDU apps (FBW/CJ4)

And many others I’m completely forgetting!

This is just my speculation based on understanding how these programs work but my thoughts.

Navigraph uses SimLink to connect so I imagine if that needs to be updated they will do so in short order.

LittleNavMap uses SimConnect which has been around forever and I can’t see it going away with 2024.

Volanta has their own plugin which again I imagine would be updated if required in short order.

Addon Linker has no under the hood magic and does not interact with MSFS whatsoever. You could use addonlinker for anything really. It’s just created symbolic links at the operating system level to any folder you tell it.

Mobiflight uses a WASM module so I imagine really nothing will change here.

PMS/GTN gets dropped into the Community folder could potentially need some tweaking.

FSLTL I don’t use so can’t comment

Remote MCDU apps would probably need some tweaking, but the whole aircraft might in that respect.
