I’m curious as to whether anyone has had success with using the G2 in FS2024, mine works fine in FS2020, but crashes or locks up in FS2024. I was expecting I could keep using the g2 for up to another year by preventing updates, and this method appears to be allowing me to continue with FS2020.
I was considering getting the Quest3 as a possible replacement, but really don’t want to do that if I don’t need to.
I used to have my G2 running well, bought a new computer, I9 14th gen KF, RTX 4090, 64 Gig of ram, and it came with windows 24H2 installed, so now the program tht runs the headset, no longer works…
Performance is perfectly acceptable (12900k, 4090), main issue is stability. Most crashes occur at the end of flights or when using the menus during them - which is easy enough to avoid.
Had one very annoying one last night though, just starting my approach after an hour long cargo mission.
Have been using the OpenXR Toolkit throughout, but am gonna try disabling it and see if that makes any difference.
The firmware I have needs 24H2 to protect the problems with the 14th gen I9 Intel processor, according to the manufacturer. So guess i’m shopping for. new headset. I have a Valve Index, i’m using now, but not as clear for small cockpit details like Garmin 1000 small button controls…
The Valve index seems to play better with MSFS, not getting any headset failure, black screens, while it flies and coming back etc… But I miss the resolution.
I was thinking about getting a Crystal light, but need to do more research on real experience, wish I could test one out in Southern California area,
There is a new Vive headset, but like to see it too…
Well, I now have mine working, the main problem seems to have been Open XRTool kit Companion App. I have smooth VR flight; however, frame rate is in the 20s compared with the 50s for FS2020 and there is a drop in sharpness. More tweaking is in my near future!
Using my ‘old’ G2 (with 3090, i9-10900, Win11, 23H2) with no problems. Run it with Balanced or Auto DLSS and MR. Certainly smoother than in 2020.
The G2 is still an excellent headset and I’ve no current intentions of replacing it, or my GPU/PC, until forced to update to 24H2 … so hopefully not for about another two years.
W11 23H2, 13900 4090, latest Nvidia driver, works great for me, very stable. Fps a bit lower than msfs2020 but very smooth. TLOD 250, all settings ultra or high.
Tried both with and without OXR toolkit, found no difference.
So far so good…
My Reverb G2 works fine in MSFS 2024. I am running Win Pro 10 22H2 on Intel i7 11700K 32GB RAM and RTX 3090 FE with driver 566.14. I´m using OpenXR Toolkit and get stable 30fps in DLSS Quality and mostly medium settings. The visuals are better than in MSFS 2020, just more CPU Cores to my benefit!
Got the Reverb , but in MSFS in VR I can’t get the toolbar to show up or when I can pop up the EFB I can’t get the mouse to work with the EFB buttons. Out of 50 tries it worked maybe twice. I will fiddle with OpenXR and see if it makes a diff. Thanks all.
Mine is working pretty well after the update today, previously if has been a bit hit-and-miss but the five flights I’ve done today have all been delightfully smooth.

That’s why I said pretty well, I think the toolbar has popped up once for me and I have no idea what I did to get that. So far I have been concentrating on trying to get reliable smooth flight. Yesterday was the first time I achieved that - I’m wondering if this was due to my settings or the fresh update to the sim. Anyway, I’m pleased that I can finally be reasonably certain that I will be able to have an enjoyable experience in VR
