dang… i wanted to fly my pink cessna 172

Sorry. :frowning:

The rule is to ensure everyone is competing fairly with one of the stock planes. As I’m sure most of us have seen by now, if you’re using a custom livery, your plane can sometimes be shown as a completely different aircraft model to other MSFS pilots.

ya, i didnt think of that

A lot of planes are bugged regarding fuel consumption, so you have to find out which plane is bugged to your advantage…

Better to have just one plane for everyone, so it’s fair.

Correct, the Extra has no AP, but the next 4 fastest planes are the Cap10 (135KTAS, no AP), VL-3 (130KTAS, AP currently incorrectly implemented with the G3X), then the DA40/C172 (125/124 KTAS respectively, AP in both).

The biplane is fast too, but the 2H endurance makes up for that IMO.

I can see using the Cap10 for the speed advantage, but the Extra is substantially faster than then rest of the ā€˜competitors’

I’m curious (unrelated to this challenge) what mods those might be? Anything that makes things work more realistically is something I’m surely interested in…

I agree with you, i am fine with leaving it in.

Am interested… Too bad I can’t use the TBM, though, it’s a tie for my fav aircraft between it and the Carenado M20R.

Regarding the Extra 330, it has a ceiling of 10,000 ft and slightly shorter range than any autopilot equipped plane. I think that, combined with the fact that the pilot(s) will be flying manually for the whole trip, might balance out its speed advantage.

I know what I’ll be flying, then

hmm, dunno. While the lack of autopilot might balance it out somewhat, you can guarantee that the top prize will then be taken by a team doing just that, especially now that there is an epic piece of hardware up for grabs
And not expecting to win or anything, im not that good, but would skew competition.

There’s nothing skewed about it, everyone can choose that plane…

Towards teams  For a single person flying manual that long is near impossible. Or not healthy at least :stuck_out_tongue:

would the g1000 / g3000 enhancements from the working title crew fall under rule 5b?

Does your flight plan have to remain within the borders of the United States?

Great question… I’d second that…

Anything that’s not part of the stock Asobo MSFS (current build as of Dec 26) is not allowed under rule 5b. I’ll allow mods that only modify scenery, but anything that affects the flying part of the sim is not permitted.
