MSFS Cannonball Run Challenge (KJFK to KLAX in a GA plane for charity) [Prize from Microsoft]

No…and now I’m really wondering what you have in mind because I can’t imagine crossing into either Canada or Mexico would reduce the flying time from NYC to LA.

Hopefully I’ll have time off but this sounds super fun, would love to join in!

OK… so, essentially, the Community folder should be empty for this event, with the sole exception of scenery.

If you fly a southern route (thinking about weather and elevation) there is a possibility to cross into Mexico from West Texas, no?

Yes, this would be permitted.

You talked about the idea of taking screenshots of things and getting time off, is that still a factor? if its still included, would the nametag above a major city count?

You can fly the other way around and still reach the same airport

The flight tracking application is not working, when I try to launch it nothing happens. Help?

And your not allowed to use Shared Cockpit:

“Anything that’s not part of the stock Asobo MSFS (current build as of Dec 26) is not allowed under rule 5b. I’ll allow mods that only modify scenery, but anything that affects the flying part of the sim is not permitted.”

So you got to have a co-pilot at site to clear the job…

I think they should tweak the rules a bit, the idea and fundraising part is super!

Hey @masszukidad , I created SimAir.io so maybe I can help.

After you installed SimAir, and launched it, did you log in?
Did you install, and launch SimAir on the same PC MSFS is installed?

SimAir is designed to hide in your task tray on the bottom right part of your screen. If it’s working correctly, and you’re logged in, you’ll never know it’s there - except for the fact that your flights would be logged at https://simair.io.

If you’re unable to figure it out, please join our discord channel at, SimAir.io, so I can get you sorted.

Yes, but there are no indications that it is running! That’s the issue. As if it didn’t launch.

Any restriction in Pilot and/or luggage weights?

Thank you for this wonderful event information and consideration to our NPO- Mission Flight in 2021!!

Just a brief comparison of available aircraft and the expected flying time

  1. I love that you took the time to create that spreadsheet. <3
  2. This is a competition! Don’t be giving away useful information in such a cavalier manner.

Shinji, thank you for being an inspiration to so many people. Learning about your journey and seeing your infectiously positive attitude has truly been one of the bright spots for me in 2020. I hope this fun little cross-country race in MSFS can help raise some money for your Earthrounder Mission next year.

For anyone reading this who missed Shinji’s appearance on the MSFSOfficial Twitch stream in October, please take a few minutes to watch this video: https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/YKI3XMIJSvA

And for everyone planning to livestream their attempts to complete the Cannonball Run in MSFS on December 26, please consider promoting Shinji’s GoFundMe to your viewers and help him raise the money needed for his round-the-world flight in 2021. Can you maybe post a screenshot of all the realism settings we need for this? I.e. I am not sure if it’s allowed to have the AI take over the coms or if the realism setting applies to everything. Also like markers on taxiways. I get the plane has to be realistic, but I am not sure if you meant everything on that page. Thanks

I’m a cavalier! …but this is a very basic comparison, I keep the extended version in secret

I’m thinking that the winners will be a group of friends that get together to fly the 330 switching off flying every hour or so. Of course I have not looked at the map yet and this is assuming that they would find a pass over the Rockies.

The rules state that teams can only be two pilots maximum, and they must physically use the same PC (no shared cockpit mod). Unless someone is livestreaming their entire flight, though, we have no way of verifying and enforcing that people aren’t cheating with larger team sizes. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to keep this fair?
