MSFS cloud version review

I have been playing MSFS for over a year on my PC and decided to try the cloud version that is included as part of the game pass ultimate subscription. Here are my impressions…

Its amazing to be able to play on my laptop while lying in bed although the first thing to note is you have to control everything from an xbox game pad. For a PC user this is frustrating as I had all my keyboard bindings memorised and used the mouse to do complex activities like adjusting radio frequencies etc.

Once I got up and flying I found the controls were very sensitive especially the rudder control which made it difficult to land without veering left and right. As a consequence I changed the pilot assistance settings from hard to easy which helped but kind of spoils it for me.

At times the controller would stop working and I would crash. Other times my internet would drop out for a few seconds however the game would return back at the same point in time allowing me to play on.

Going forward I will continue to play mostly on the PC for serious flights that require careful planning and execution. I will however continue to persist with msfs cloud version for casual flying as I love lying in bed with a laptop and doing some sight seeing.

Overall I find cloud gaming really exciting as a concept. Removing the need for a high end gaming PC opens up the accessability immensely. The technology will only improve as the years pass.

MSFS can´t even handle your player profile on the cloud. Even that silly and basic feature is not working well. The sync process is full of errors and the logbook and progress stopped working months ago. Game is not able to handle the official patch updating process either. It´s also bugged and the amount of users facing problems with that is increasing.

However cloud gaming is an overall good idea. Having a local copy of the content with nowadays network speeds has no sense.

Cheers
