MSFS Crash Before Opening

So whats the consensus, there’s no way to have the Nvidia App installed, and use MSFS2020? Aside from periodically deleting the mentioned folder with those dlls?

Yes, it is better not to have the current version of the Nvidia App installed or it will trigger all these DLLs every time Windows starts. Even if you delete them in the “models” folder, the next time the system is restarted they will be there bothering you and preventing you from loading the flight simulator.

You can have the Nvidia application installed and play MSFS 2020 without CTDs during loading, as long as you select DirectX 12 instead of DirectX 11 in the MSFS 2020 settings.

Thanks. I’ve had different issues with DX12 in the past but at least this will let me boot it up.

Hopefully Nvidia issues a fix before too long

Thank you so much !!!
You are the greatest and the hero of the week :upside_down_face:
Tried to solve that since one week…but couldn’t solve it…
It’s running after reading your post… :upside_down_face: :upside_down_face: :upside_down_face:

Tranks!. It also worked for me.

It worked but bleck the colors are just putrid with no filters on MS2020. I did get it working and then went back changed to directx 12 to put filters in. It works pretty good now.

Confirming it was that 190_E6 causing the problem. removed it and all started up. to avoid it appears again the only way is to unistall the nvidia app? thansk

According to the community, this is not happening when putting Msfs in DirectX12. But yes, uninstalling the Nvidia App prevents “190” dlls from returning with every reboot.

It depends.
There are cases where installing latest nvidia driver along with nvidia app prevents MSFS 2024 from starting, causes CTDs during flights and leads to other issues. MSFS 2024 only works with DX12, so in this case, it’s better not to have latest nvidia driver and app.

As for MSFS 2020, there can be CTD during loading if you have nvidia app installed.

However, you can keep nvidia app as long as you select DX12 in MSFS 2020 settings or change DX11 to DX12 in the UserCfg.opt file.

To enable DX12 without launching MSFS 2020, you need to edit the usercfg.opt file. Find the line that says PreferD3D12 0 and change 0 to 1.
Save changes.

I mentioned this in this thread 5 days ago.

@RVictorPilot
Do you remember how I suggested to you what could be causing CTD and where to find that 190_E658703.dll file

I finally got this issue on my PC fixed by reinstalling the Nvidia App and updating my drivers (which should have been done automatically, but weren’t). Now FS 2020 is back to its perfect self and I an happy once again. Even FS 2024 is starting to act like I want it to for my purpose and enjoyment. Will miracles never cease???

How about checking in your MSFS 2020 settings if you have DX11 or DX12 selected?

It’s DX12, and the issue has been fixed. The driver update was my solution.

Nope mate

So, switching to DX12 instead of DX11 helped you.

Hi, thanks for all your help and this so essentially the best way now is to reinstall the app but setting in MSFS 2020 the the DX 12? Is this possible to be done outside MSFs 2020? Because I’m afraid if I reinstall the app i will be prevented from starting MSFS. Thanks

All I did was to remove the 190whatever.dll. Start 2020 set to DX12. Problem solved.

I had DX12 selected before the problem started. Regardless, it’s no longer an issue. End of story.

There is no need to reinstall if you already have it installed.
If Nvidia app is essential for you and you want to play MSFS 2020 while using it, all you need to do is set DX12 in the MSFS 2020.

Yes mate.
To enable DX12 without launching MSFS 2020, you need to edit the usercfg.opt file. Find the line that says
PreferD3D12 0
and change 0 to 1

I switched before I had the problem.

Ten, I’m still a bit hesitant about DirectX 12, especially since when you choose it, MSFS says that problems such as instability may occur. In your experience, are there any differences between 11 and 12? Is one being better or are they all the same, as is the case on your side. Just in case, I always use 11, but I’d like another opinion.
