MSFS crashing because of addons?

Hi,

Hopefully I am posting this in the correct category.

As promised, I am posting my next CTD in this category.

Just had a CTD with the following error message in the Event Manager:

Hi,
Just loaded the PMDG DC-6 and when switching from 2D to VR the sim crashed.
Fault offset: 0x000000000245bb29

This type of fault does indicate a conflict with some other software. If this occurs while in flight, then it is usually caused by conflicts with third party software or add on mods. It could also be overclocking / process management software, etc. On your side, start by removing add on mods and see if that helps. Then move on to uninstalling third party software and if needed, do a clean install of MSFS.

Good news though! In the upcoming SU15 beta, there has been changes in how MSFS allocates memory when other software in use that should lessen these types of problems going forward. If you notice your crashes occurring later in flight, then I think the SU15 update will help a lot.

Hi,
Thanks for the info and advice!

Some more CTDs yesterday:

wow 3 CTD a day, I recommend to emptying your community folder to see if ctd occurs,
if yes → maybe driver issue, or drive / file issues I would try running some SFC /scannow tool via cmd and dsim/restorehealth, also try to check if all your driver are up to date and windows
maybe try lower graphic setting anyway,
if no CTD → then it is mod conflicting
so bring back slowly your mods like 50% of the removed one, start with your favourite

if CTD → remove 50 % of those mod to detect wich block of mod cause ctd
if no CTD → bring back again 50% of the remaining mods (25% of the your whole mods) in order to find wich mod is conflicting, once CTD are back remove the first block and split the faulty block of mods by 2 to detect it

that s the fatest way I found to troubleshoot my community folder, oh try to check also if no mod are outdated or reported with incomptatibility

Hi,

Thanks for your input!

I have done all of these things many times before and still have CTDs. Even in Safe Mode I had CTDs. All drivers are the latest version. Also tried it with older versions of Nvidia drivers. I keep all of them in a separate folder.

I have attempted to get a definite answer from MS/Asobo concerning certain Fault offset numbers, but they keep their mouth firmly shut concerning these.

One thing I have noted over the months is that when all Data is turned off, there are no CTDs. But then MSFS looks like XP with their default scenery, except that the default XP airports look better.

Sometimes I can run MSFS with all of my addons for a few weeks without any issue. And then suddenly, BAM, another or even several CTDs occur.

sometime ctd are geo related, does they happen in different places ?
could it be your setup running out of memory, assuming data on increase the amount of data loaded…
have you tried a different server (west europe instead of north, asia instead of usa or viceversa )

maybe cause their is not much to say about those number… like error 0xc0000005 mean nothing since it got so many root possibility
