MSFS CTD when VR exit

I’ve been having an issue for a while but it has escalated significantly the last month or so. When exiting VR-mode the sim CTDs. It has only happened when exiting VR-mode.

HP Reverb G2
WMR Runtime: 113.2405.31001
OpenXR toolkit: v.1.3.2

I use DX11
Medium texture resolution on both VR and PC ingame settings

Any ideas on how to problemshoot?

I didnt have the CTD for a long while, but when I did it was something not playing nice with VR/ WMR.
What is your GPU? when I had an older card with low memory exiting lead to CTD when I was pushing more than what the card could handle.

  1. Empty/move items out of your community folder. See if you still experience it.
  2. Update your Nvidia Drivers to the latest. Re-Adjust setting if necessary
  3. Try HAGS on/off,
  4. Try Game mode on/off

Sadly G2 days are numbered. At this point you may want to consider something else, Quest 3 with Virtual Desktop app could be a solution.

Well, I encountered this phenomenon regularly in the past. But some weeks or so ago it stopped by itself. I can’t tell why, maybe after an MSFS update?
Before that I used to kill MSFS inside the task mananger at the end of a VR session (instead of only stopping VR by key command). So I avoided any entries in the problem history. I don’t know the correct term, in German windows it’s ‘Zuverlaessigkeits- und Problemverlauf’
My equipment:
Quest 3, AMD Ryzen 7 5800x3D, 32 GB RAM, Nvidia RTX 4070, Win 11 - all drivers etc. current version

Thank you for the suggestions. I am troubleshooting based on your feedback so we’ll see.

I have the 3090ti with the 5800x3d. I’ve been thinking about replacing the headset for a while, but it still works so it’s seems like an unnecessary replacement at the moment.

For the troubleshooting:
-I’ve tried without REX Atmos, and Map enhancer. I’ve had crashes with all of them both activated and deactivated.
-I have now uninstalled OpenXR Toolkit companion, and have not had any crashes for two flights with multiple exits out of VR-sessions. Seems promising. Will update when RED Atmos and Map Enhancer has been activated again.

I have now had several flights without OpenXR Toolkit, and also tried both Map Enhancer and REX Atmos. I’ve had no crashes whatsoever and the sim seems to be running fine where I previously would have several crashes.

I therefore conclude that deleting OpenXR Toolkit is considered the solution.
