Well, what the title says, since yesterday’s update I can’t start the sim as administrator, it tells me the following:
“Windows does not have access to the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.”
However if I open it normal (without admin permissions) if it lets me open it
Has it ever happened to you? … How can I solve it?
is there a reason why you need to start it as an administrator? (I honestly don’t know and never did)
Just tried it myself though, and it seems to work fine. Both with “Fast Launch” via the SDK and the standard shortcut with the splash sceen videos.
So…open it as normal user.

Thanks to both of you,
I have a habit of opening all programs as administrator, and so far I have not had a problem with the sim,
I will have to open it normal, I have no other,
I was more curious than anything, since if it has worked so far, I do not understand why it has stopped doing it,
Thanks again.
I get the message as well since update
Good day

I do not know how to solve it, it seems that we are the only ones with this problem
I am having the same problem as well.
Yesterday i can run it after latest update, but today: It shows u have to connect the internet, But my net is connecting very well and i can open web and so on…
WHY WHY WHY? Never happened like this !
You are not alone. And, it used to be a requirement to start as Administrator from the Start Menu.
I have the feeling the update deleted the FS folder and reconstituted it as a new folder. See:
The change seems to have confused Nvidia CP settings too. Now I don’t know which .exe it is pointing to.
Same issue here!
But a new opening screen pops up instantly now before usual credit screens.
As long as we don’t need to run or open anything as administrator, it’s fine. They probably don’t want us playing with some files.
Sorry to be so repetitive, but I have the very same problem with opening MSFS as Administrator, right after installing latest update 1.16.2.0 yesterday. (26th May)
Fortunately, I can still play by clicking on the MSFS shortcut normally.
Also, in Microsoft Store, it shows I have errors with MSFS Premium Deluxe, Digital ownership, and Gaming services.
Any ideas to try to save me reinstalling.
I just now found the error in the Store. I simly clicked ‘install’ and after a short run of a few seconds the error message disappeared. FS starts fine.
Hello partners. I have the same problem and after formatting the PC the problem is still present. so I do not advise to format the PC and wait for a Hot Fix since to top it off after formatting now it only installs 84.61GB. Where is the rest …? I do not know … we will continue to report on failure News 2020.
The amazing thing about this is that they have always advised us to open the sim from administrator, and now they do not let us?
It does not make sense,
I hope they solve it soon.
It never has been, as far as I remember. The only time it needs admin rights is after you have downloaded an update via the MS Store, and even then you don’t need to launch it as admin as it will request elevation via UAC.

I don’t know what you mean by this, the store doesn’t give me the option to install, it tells me product already installed.
Please read the release notes.

Since I joined in Dec 19. Maybe because it was an XBox Insider app.
