Making game unplayable. Have been searching for an hour for a fix and a way to remove the duplicate. Reinstall the game?

Do you necessarily need to unplug your hardware so frequently?
No usually leave them plugged in. Went to play today, both joysticks duplicated both in the Controls Menu and in the sim - creating unplayable chaos. Unplugging and replugging them back in will not remove the duplication.
