MSFS installation no longer recognised after Windows Automatic Repair

After having issues with my PC yesterday, Windows went into Automatic Repair as Windows was not loading. Now, when I launch MSFS, it asks me to reinstall the entire sim. My original installation is still there but it is not recognise it. How can I make it use the current installation instead of re-installing everything?

Point installation to the directory where it remained

You can check the usercfg.opt file, and change the last line that points to the sim, if it has got reset. But the GUI is more convenient.

usercfg.opt is fine, in the installation manager the packages path is correct, but still wants me to reinstall

If both paths are correct, with any luck it will find all the packages, and decide it doesn’t actually need to download them again.

Did you try and log out of your account and then log back in?

If nothing already suggested works, make a backup of your packages and download the sim afresh; it’s not a huge download. Then, before starting the sim, put your packages back.
