MSFS load hangup

I have the same problem as DenraelG, try the same steeps and obtain the same result. I’ve closed the sessions on Store and Xbox, reset the computer and open both sessions, also disconnect and reconnect the router: no way to solve it, the problem persist.

After to try all the recommendation of this page:

Without any sucess.

On the Windows 10 configuration I made a synchronization and actualized the system by: W10 - ver 22H2 - x64 - KB5035941
Problem solved !!!

Hope this info may be useful.

Yeah, I actually opened a Zendesk ticket last Thursday, but beyond a couple of initial no-brainer suggestions (video driver, vanilla state, etc), I haven’t seen any meaningful response from them.

Just to discard, if you have an antivirus could you temporally disable it and launch MSFS ?

I finally said screw it and began a “reset” of the sim about 5 hours ago. I am currently at 24% of a 139.31GB download, chewing on it at an average 15 Mbps. :frowning:

I tried that very early on in one of the MS suggested checklists… didn’t help.

Insert Monty Python Yorkshireman quote here.

Have you seen no deviation at all from that? It can sometimes be bursty, and you get a spurt of speed, which never seems to last, then back down to the usual ~3Mbps. If you are getting 15Mbps, it could certainly be better, but could be a lot worse.

Oh yes… very erratic, sometimes 18Mbps, sometimes 9 (or less). I just finished the 139.31GB download this morning, averaging 13.46Mbps for the entire enchilada. BTW, I pay for 20Mbps, but such is life. Anyway, I still have to download a bunch of world/city updates and the full Reno air racing package, so more agony ahead.
The good news? I am back in business with the “reset”… no more hang at the Dune promo screens! I’ve been in and out of the sim multiple times, made a few flights, everything seems to be working fine. Incidentally, I lost some settings with the reset, but logbook and other accomplishments appear to be intact.

That’s good news, but sorry it took such extreme measures to get back on an even keel.

Glad to hear you are flying again! If you have the storage space, I’d suggest you make a backup of the MSFS folder, plus the WpSystem folder & WindowsApps\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_1.37.11.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe folder. May prevent you having to download everything yet again if you find yourself in a similar situation in the future.

Could you possibly give me complete paths (default installation here) to the first two folders you mentioned. I’m just not that familiar with how fs2020 is laid out on the hard drive.
Meanwhile a big THANKS to everyone who had input on this problem… I really appreciated the support!

I installed on a different drive & don’t recall what default setup location was displayed during the install, so have taken the following locations from a couple of Zendesk articles:

For the MS Store version:
Core install folder:
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe

wgs folder:
C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData

If you open a program (like Clipchamp) linked to MS Store, beware when close the program the store also may sign off. If you open MSFS with the store session closed will receive an error message.

I want to thank everyone again for their input… call this one complete.
