Unfortunately, the analogy that comes to mind would likely get me a ban, so I can’t REALLY say what I think.
So what did they specifically say? Nothing?
it’s only a couple of minutes, and they indeed didn’t say anything, just a guy plugging 3 monitors into his laptop and flying around on a pretty sweet home cockpit. So I guess they’re trying to build some hype for their new mobile GPU’s.
I was so happy for this and…nops.
Not quite. The 3080 mobile variant has the same number of CUDA cores as the desktop 3070. That doesn’t sound too bad in theory, until you realize at its maximum boost clock, it’s running at a lower clock speed than the 3070’s base clock.
In terms of features and CUDA cores, yes, that’s correct. Mobile 3080 is comparable to the desktop 3070. In terms of performance, it’s pretty abysmal. There are like 10 different power level variants of the mobile GPUs. The highest end mobile 3080 variant intended for those big chonky gaming $5000 laptops that are really desktops in disguise, at its maximum boost clock, is only marginally faster than the desktop 3070’s base clock.
And the laptop was not even conected to energy…
This seems to be related to triple monitors, unfortunately I moved to VR a few days ago and although I still have the monitors it will be very hard to go back to them.
I’ve been having intolerable and unplayable stutter problems for 6 days now on both 460.89 and 461.09. I sent a ticket to Zendesk and their answer was this link: GeForce 461.09 Game Ready Driver Feedback Thread ( | NVIDIA GeForce Forums.
What to make of this event and what is happening to me?
BOTH Zendesk and this game are unfit for purpose.
Thank you.
I don’t know, I run it on my Razer Laptop (I7-10875, 2080 Super Max-q, 4k display) at mostly Ultra 4k (but with Render Scaling at 80%) and get 29-32 fps through NYC (except flying low in central Park) and London with no stutters at all. The fans on it sounds like a jet, but it keeps up just fine. I can imagine it could to 3x1080 displays just fine, since that’s fewer pixels than a 4k monitor.
I’d expect a 3080 to do a bit better, although it would likely be CPU limited rather than GPU limited, which may cause more stuttering or so I’m told.
Only the mobile 3070 doesn’t perform at the level of a 3070. Not even remotely close. We’ve regressed to the pre nVidia 1000 series where the mobile and desktop GPUs are completely different beasts that basically share only a name and core architecture, but you get a small fraction of the desktop’s performance. Your 2080 Super Max-Q is basically a 2080 Super “Lite”. Not so with the new generation of mobile GPUs.
Indeed, 3080 mobile performs like 3070 desktop. That has been confirmed.
I haven’t watched the video yet, but…
When I first got the software, I set up surround across 3 1920 x 1080 screens using surround. And when I turned on lens correction, it fixed the warpiness of the 2 outer displays for the most part (I think I’ve got some screen captures somewhere, though I’m not sure if I had yet discovered that setting). Flying was perfectly smooth over the Grand Canyon and southern New Hampshire. Yeah, slowed down a bit flying over NYC.
Not all that warpy too me (I get all giddy flying over Flagstaff because I know the area pretty well )
I’ve got a 4790K with 16GB, 2 1TB Rocket SSD’s, and a 2070 Super. So, nice enough, but definitely not a monster machine by any stretch of the imagination. I get by with it. I’m using an LG 55UN7300 4K TV now for a monitor. I love it. Too bad the screen is so tall, makes using my TrackIR tough
I can’t remember if I’d discovered Lens Correction switch, yet.
Here I was hoping for DLSS and all they’re doing is presenting some laptops… disappointing
I see everyone thought the same as me. When the video started, there is a scene at the beginning where they show the reflection of the game on the guys glasses. When I first saw it, I thought it was filmed through the lens of a VR headset, and got my hopes up for some VR performance magic… LOL
