My understanding is SpaceDesk only allow one external monitor/touch screen to emulate touch. From your description of setting up King Air 350 that you didn’t enable touch in POPM for one of the PFD/MFD, and touch still works, this tells me, POPM is not handling touch to click emulation for that screen. But instead SpaceDesk/tablet is still accepting some mouse clicks but it probably won’t work 100% reliably in MSFS.
As for your 2nd setup of TBM 930, refocus did not work is most likely due to SpaceDesk monitor setup. Refocus will only work on the “first” SpaceDesk monitor, whatever that is, which is actually sending touch signals to Windows OS and POPM keys off that. It is hard to tell since it depends on how SpaceDesk connect to your android tablets. Please try only connect your TBM 930 touch screen panel and not the PFD / MFD panel with SpaceDesk and see if refocus works. If so, then PFD/MFD android monitor is using the touch signals spot that it does not need to.
With my limited experience with Spacedesk in Windows 11, I can only get touch to work reliably with a single external Android or IPad tablet with POPM. Please add to this comment/solution if you’re able to use SpaceDesk reliably with multiple external tablets with POPM touch/refocus functionality.
Huh… hmmm… well, thank you so much for your help ! Looks like I have a lot of experimenting to do.
Hello everyone, I have four monitors. On one, the sim is running, on two others, the Garmin PFD and MFD are displayed, and on the third (which is a touchscreen), the GTN is shown. I have enabled Touch in MSFS PopOutPanel. Unfortunately, the touch functionality is not working as expected. After a long touch, the element turns blue (as if right-clicked), but there is no clicking action. What can I do?
Hello everyone
until now I was using POPM and MSFS2020 on a Windows 10 PC without any problems.
I just upgraded to a more powerful machine running Windows 11 and since then I haven’t been able to get POPM to work.
at first everything is fine and as soon as I have to capture the image from the G1000 (this is an example) it’s impossible, I get an error.
I have read and tried a number of solutions without success to date.
I’m starting to wonder if there isn’t a problem with Windows 11
Do you have a lead?
Thank you all
Since most of the tech simply goes over my head, I just moved the popped out panel that is supposed to be touchable and is supposed to refocus. Now it sits where the (non touch) MFD is and there it works the way I wanted it to. I doubt this is a solution that is a… well… ACTUAL technical solution but it works (not saying it works RELIABLY, I havent gotten that far yet).
Thank you again for your help.
Curiosity question:
Popping out the panels on the TBM930 does not require the power to be on. In the HJet, it does. (I havent tested any other planes)
Why is that ?
It’s either a design issue in MSFS or a bug in MSFS or bug in aircraft coding. It has been like that since MSFS first released 3 years ago. Since aircraft developers may code their aircraft differently, they may not necessarily follow standard (if one exist). An example is G1000 aircraft’s panels cannot be popped out when power is off.
Ah… so basically one of the mysteries of life. Yeah, that tracks haha.
Thank you !
The reason it happens is because MSFS won’t offer the pop-out cursor until the panel code initialises. Some aircraft do this at load time, some only do it at power-on.
Even with the G1000 I believe I’ve seen aircraft in the past where you could pop out before power-on. Though that might have been pre-Working Title. My memory is fuzzy.
Ahhhhh, I see. Very interesting. Thanks for the info !
I only now have noticed this because when the HondaJet (And I believe other G3000 aircraft) powers down, all flight plan data from the World map is lost. I THINK that is a new development but I am not sure.
No, it’s been doing that for a long time. That’s why I don’t use auto pop-out, because the ‘turn the power on and off’ thing that POPM does loses the flight plan and you can’t re-load it.
So you only pop out after you turned everything on ?
In aircraft that you can’t pop out before power-on, yes. But irrespective I don’t auto-pop-out, I start it manually.
Interesting to know, thank you !
how do I backup a/c and user profiles and how to I restore the backups. I currently have the appsettingdata and userprofiledata .json files on their own in the onedrive dcouments folder of my PC (the rest of the files are in my appdata user documents files, which is not synced with the Cloud so I don’t know how those two files ended up in the onedrive docments folder ??
The 2 data files for POPM are stored in your Windows Documents folder and you can backup these 2 files.
Thank you. But not in mine they’re not. As I said, mine are stored in the one drive Documents folder. Neither of these appear in the ‘This PC’ username documents folder which contains the other POM files??? Can I just cut and paste the files to the latter (unsynced) folder.
Windows attempts to ‘virtualise’ the user’s documents / pictures / music / video folders to the OneDrive folders when you have it on. The idea being that you just have one big set of folders containing all the content you create on any machine you log into with your MS account.
The way it does this under the hood means that depending on how the developer of a particular piece of software has chosen to read/write files, they might end up in the OneDrive documents folder or they might be in the original local documents folder. In particular, if you request the user documents path from Windows before writing the file to that location, you’ll get the OneDrive folder if you have it active.
This is my first post and I think I’m in the right place…
Can someone please explain how to pop out an in-game menu bar panel? I would like to pop out the Checklist for the Kodiak 100 (available from the in-game menu bar at the top of the main window) and have it display on my iPad, using Spacedesk, with touch enabled. I have the option to include in-game menu bar panels on but I cannot figure out how to do this. If I simply open the Checklist panel and drag it to my iPad screen touch will not work. I am thinking I should add a new panel in POPM with the panel source somehow set to the in-game menu bar checklist and then click on the panel’s hand icon making it green. But I don’t see how to identify this …
I’m using POPM version 4.1.0.0004.
Thanks
OMG! I just went back to the POPM GitHub page and reread the getting started manual and there it is! I can’t remember seeing it before! Just went right past me.
. Not off to a great start. Apologies!
Got it working, sort of. Having difficulty getting the checklist to respond to my touch but this may be a setting issue in POPM. I’ll experiment.
