The sim has been running fine for months, then on startup today, I get that silly Microsoft Store and all games I do not need. The flight sim icon now starts up the store only. So what happened? Where is MSFS 2020 gone? Why did something change? We did not change anything ! This is nuts!
When was the last time you had the sim up and running?
Two days ago we were running fine. Actually, we have been happy for a couple of months of good start up and running. Appears there is an update on GamingServices that is not working or did not work correctly! We have have tried to clear problem in power shell using command to delete gamingservices and gamingservicesnet, but this did not work!
That’s why I asked about timing.
May sound simple, but did you do a reboot of your system?
Then just go to the store, not through MSFS, and click the UPDATE button.
Yes. In the store it indicates that the services are up to date. If I redo download, it appears as though it updated fine? Then back to startup on the icon, I am back in the store again?
Windows may have updated on last shutdown.
I solved this (in another thread) by deleting the Gaming Services and Gaming Services Net
I deleted entries with regedit
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\GamingServices
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\GamingServicesNet
rebooted
Went to Windows Store and was able to update Gaming Services ( … menu)
then can fly MSFS and next time it doesn’t go to the store
This helped me as well:
this and it did not work? I would guess if gaming services does install correctly you would note this entry back in the registry. Now no entry is shown in register and gaming services not showing in tray running anymore?
You guys connected with the developers need to elevate this. We users did not create this problem! Gaming services is hosed, even though it indicates Gaming Services is installed? Our sim is down. After deleting the service app and the net app in registers, we noticed we lost the taskbar tray! Someone please reach out to the experts that can help us.
Thanks
Again, as @moxiejeff alluded to, this is a WINDOWS 10 issue. This is not a MSFS issue, other than the fact that the store software uses the game services. You will need to contact either the MS Store support or Windows support, if the link provided does not solve the problem. If you have edited the registry then best practices would dictate that you did a backup of your registry before hand. Just restore the registry from that back-up and carefully follow the steps again.
DISCLAIMER
If you are not experienced with registry settings it is NEVER recommended to make changes to the registry directly without first making a backup or deferring to someone with the necessary knowledge to make those changes for you.
We restored our registry then went to downloads and updates then selected GamingServices and it updated?
Great help
Thanks
Yea this has nothing to do with the sim. It’s an Xbox gaming thing unfortunately.
