MSFS SU16 - aggregation of complaints about poor LOD, low resolution blurry terrain textures

Fruit for thought, would independent World Updates maybe improve the poor map related graphics?

Nope. Already tried. The world is basically blurry / low texture everywhere except for photogrammetry areas, which have good resolution even if you turn OFF PG. If you turn off photogrammetry in the MSFS settings you’ll notice that in an area like Los Angeles or New York, the imagery is sharp and good resolution like it was in SU15. As soon as you fly beyond the PG boundary (regardless if PG is on or off) then it will be poor quality.

Yeah I did a few flights today and it’s pretty bad. I swear it wasn’t this bad in the beta. And the last beta has the same version number as the release. But I’m telling you something is different.

Absolutely all the ground textures are blurry a few miles out on approach everywhere plus draw distance decreases as you get lower to the ground to like a mile out absolutely ridiculous pls fix this

Just to help people see how vast the difference in quality is between certain areas I’ve taken the below shots. The first 3, in Christchurch, NZ and Mackay QLD show the quality that we’ve come to expect and what existed virtually everywhere in SU15. Now in SU16, this quality level only exists in Photogrammetry areas (with PG OFF)

Everywhere else outside of the photogrammetry areas now has has this level of quality:

I am not sure about you but today, when I started the sim, I got another update. It seems to have solved the previous map problems. Can anyone (maybe the admin?) confirm this?

No updates, when was the last time you fired up the sim? the updated AIRAC was released on the 6th so maybe you’re just getting that now.

Man o live. We arnt bashing you console users. We just want unrestricted settings for our pcs. We shouldn’t get the updates that make console great like this one did for you, there should be two separate SU branches for each platform. One for Console and one for PC not one big one because what’s the point of saying theyre are on separate branches but we all get the same exact update

I don’t doubt that it runs brilliantly on Xbox. Which still doesn’t turn it into an ideal platform for that kind of software. FPS wise, for example. I don’t think it will run at 60fps. Or the fact that you can’t use a lot of third party software.

May be unrelated or happened a while ago, but I also noticed that the photogrammetry textures seem lower resolution. I used to be able to pick out much finer details on them, but now they look kind of indistinct and blurry or pixelated. Particularly noticeable to me in OC California. I used to be able to identify buildings I know very easily and now it’s much harder.

Have you seen the price of an Xbox X lately? I bought mine 3 years ago for $350. They’re nearly $600 now. I sold mine about 6 months ago for $300. I should have held on to it since it can probably run SU16 as well as a high end PC now .
