After loading most current update 4/22/2025 on MSFS 2020, my sim will not start MSFS. It even removed the Icon of the game from my computer. My neighbor also uses MSFS and his shut off after install, but then restarted. I am trying to restore the game without having to upload all my data again.
Additionally, when we check the latest updates installed, the computer shows no updates since January 2025. I also checked for Viruses, none were detected!
Any thoughts?

I had an issue with starting MSFS last night. It turned out that the XBox app was waiting for an update. I signed out of it, updated it, signed back in again, and 2024 launched as it normally does.
However my sim did not get uninstalled, it just wouldn’t run.
I have had various issues over the months with MSFS2020, apparently not loading a flight i.e. getting to and pressing “fly now”, and watching the blue bar traversing to about 75% of its travel then just stopping. This problem appears to happen randomly with no apparent reason. E.G. I haven’t had any problems after the latest update. When all my options appear to have been exhausted, I have resorted to reverting my pc to an earlier state via System Restore. On each occaision I have had to do this, MSFS is restored to its former working glory!
I will check that as well.

I had a similar problem a couple of days ago.
2020 was loaded to the Home Screen fine, but crashed when I was away from it.
Restarted my PC but the Xbox app would not load. Uninstalled and reinstalled but no luck .
This is what finally worked for me.
The same error as me, and exactly what I did.

I’m referring to the XBox app, and not the console. Allowing the XBox app to update then allowed MSFS 2024 to run.
