The game optimization feature in the Nvidia app has never been the cause of CTD. As I mentioned earlier, it’s not necessary to optimize MSFS for it to work properly - it’s fully functional without Nvidia optimization feature.
fixed it for me
Yes, the NVIDIA app is indeed the app causing the crashing when in DirectX 11 while loading. While in DirectX 12 mode it will load & run fine. But you’ll see an error in the ‘Windows event log’ show up relating to DirectX12 after shutting the sim (2020) down.
I have to do this everytime I want to play FS 2020 whats the fix for this.
This worked for me too! THANK YOU - In my case, I instead of deleting, I just renamed all the 190_E658703.dll files under C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA\NGX\models with a zzz suffix. i.e. to 190_E658703.dll.zzz (I had 9 of them in various folders).
The issue for me came about when I updated my Nvidia drivers to 580.88 (I have an RTX 4070). I did NOT install the Nvidia App as this has caused MSSF2020 to crash on load in the past.
Another possible thing to try - install the driver AND the Nvidia App, then UNINSTALL the Nvidia app from add/remove programs.
Best wishes all.
FYI Important:
The problem will occur regardless of whether you use the NVIDIA app or not. It comes when you switch from DirectX 12 to 11.
Use the NVIDIA app and hit the ‘Optimize game’ for 2020 and leave it on DX 12.
My graphics was updated and it worked and now I will do this for seeable future. Whats the fix for this?
File will come back after reinstalling NVIDIA driver.
So there’s no need to delete anything. You just need to switch from DX11 to DX12 in the UserCfg.opt file.
I’ve explained how to do this multiple times already, but it won’t hurt to go over it once more.
To do this, you need to edit UserCfg.opt file and modify the line
PreferD3D12 0
Change the number 0 to 1
and save the changes.
I cannot open the game. New installation after deleting previous installation. Crashes every time. I have everything turned off in the Community folder. I have tried 1) deleting Nvidea App, 2) rolling back driver. No success. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
And D12 in use as of last time I was able to determine.
