I bought MSFS2020 from the MS Store on day one, and over the years, a large number of addons from various vendors like Simmarket, Fenix, PMDG websites etc etc. As in, never from the in-game Marketplace.
For reasons I don’t want to get into, I am considering buying MSFS2020 from Steam.
Can my addons be installed for MSFS2020 Steam edition ?
Personal Comments and Observations
As long as they can be installed in the Community Folder (which all purchases made outside the Marketplace typically do), then they’re portable to Steam. Those purchases are agnostic to your sim version and the Store it was sourced from.
