[MSFS2024] Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner

This was my favorite airplane in MSFS2020, however I just havent clicked with the one in 2024. It seems its not there in performance yet and I hope they can optimize it. Plus small things like the livery bug which disappears randomly in the outside view and the absent wingflex take away some of the magic from it

I ended up enabling the 2020 version and downloaded the 787-8 mod and now I can fly the 2020 aircraft modded in 2024 without landing bug. Workaround until its fixed and I quite enjoy it. Hope they improve performance and fix bugs on the '24 version
seems like its a bit of a step back vs '20

Yes I agree the 2020 version of this aircraft is light years better than the 2024 version, so just enable the old one and forget 2024 until we see some updates from WT

I believe the majority (possibly all) of the issues with the 2024 version are to do with the art/exterior model and thus outside of WT’s hands - Jorg already addressed that they understand the need for an art team to work on the 787 and 747s, they just don’t have a team assigned to it yet.

Someone created the 787-10 msfs2024 3D model, why not asking This Person to fix all the outstanding issues!!

Simply asking someone to do work isn’t really how it works - they were likely contracted for work, and they (or someone) must be re-contracted for more.

Well they might wanna hurry up the product was sold 6 months ago and these heavies are due in career mode in a few weeks if we are to believe SU3 roadmap.
Honestly Asobo looking for someone to do the art on the most recognisable aircraft in the Sim 6 months after release is kind of rediculous

I would expect their priorities are non-cosmetic bugs first - it’ll get done eventually.

Just an update on the 787 liveries. The new ones from Jed Studio are now working for me. I must have tried them in the disaster they call SU3 Beta. They are 4K and slow things a touch but I am flying them just fine.

Here is Air France above Lake Tahoe in California and on short final at SFO.

You can blow these images up and the detail is there. Run at TLOD 200.

The Brits felt left out:

How does the work of an external 3d artist affect the core sim ?? Why can’t it be done in parallel.

Contract this person for the big fixes on his model.

My Personal Comment & Observation

The original “this person” who did the work - or the company she or he works for - may no longer be available, or be working on other contracts and so unable to revisit this for many months.

Just like in any other business, 3d artists have career goals. “This” employee may have been promoted, moved to another position, or left the company, requiring a prolonged search for another person with the qualifications required to do the work.

Then the work has to be defined; costs estimated, approved & funding allocated; timelines determined; and, if required, contracts written & signed.

All this can take many months. Microsoft’s fiscal year runs from July 1-June 30. Hopefully the costs for a lot more bug-fixing have been approved for the next fiscal year and so a lot of these open bugs will be fixed in the second half of this year.

So MS is unable to manage these issues.
Understood.
Hopefully in longer term. 3d artists seem to be a rare species

They’ve quite literally said they are managing them - it’s just not instantaneous, nor is it a high priority as it’s entirely cosmetic.

Personal Comments and Observations

Jorg said in one of the last few Dev Q&A streams that he’s still looking for another company to take over the 3D Asset corrections for base (not Dev Partner) aircraft - like the 787.

The company that originally did the work is still on the Marquee when the game boots. They will remain anonymous although it’s not hard to figure out who they are. Why are they not being re-engaged to correct the work? Good question, but by virtue of Jorg looking for another company to perform the corrections - well

That’s not to say they wouldn’t end up with the work again, but for now what’s publicly known is that the work is currently unallocated. That’s all you can draw with any reasonable conclusion.

Rather depressing. I just posted those new 787 liveries and they are very nice.

Wonder which team it is because if you’re referring to Working Title, they don’t touch any of the art/3D modeling. I know iniBuilds stepped in and addressed some issues with other Boeings in a previous update, so not sure if they may be given this task or not.

Thanks for the insights.
Maybe in-sourcing could be an idea
instead of giving the money outside to a third-party company ask working title to hire someone
If it’s possible to find anyone, of course

Still to this day the 2024 version 787 wing flex remians uneven, and missing some options in the efb and fmc compared to the 2020 one. Sad to say, though the dev put efforts into cabin interior, the overall feeling of 2024 787 is still a downgrade, mostly on the avionics and exterior.

Moreover, sometimes the wings glitches so much they rolled into a mess and beyblade you into heaven
it hurts when you remembered that you paid ~$130 to get the 787 and this is what its like.

This is the beyblade I’m saying, op stonercw

How have the avionics downgraded from 2020 other than the direct SimBrief integration which is now handled (better in many ways) through the EFB? The 2024 avionics even have the VSD now which is not in (and not coming to) the 2020 version.

This plane is junk even worse than the 747.

IMO best to get the 2020 version streamed then buy the bravoairpace 787-8 or 9, they are fantastic and work well in 2024
