MSFS2024 C172 G1000 GS ≠ TAS + Wind?

As per the title: I just did a flight with the C172 G1000 and noticed that the Ground Speed in the MFD does not equal the True Airspeed plus the appropriate wind vector component in the PFD. Screenshot:

In the screenshot, the TAS is 111kts, the tailwind component is less than 2kts but the ground speed is 116kts. Not a huge difference but I cannot say I have ever noticed this discrepancy before. LNM a short while earlier shows more realistic delta between TAS and GS:

An online TAS calculator would suggest the 111kt MSFS number is correct.

Anybody else ever noticed this before? Any insights/thoughts?

I’ve noticed this as well, but as you said not a huge deal so I never really worried about it, there have been much larger fish for MS/Asobo to fry.

PC-24 is the same. 397 TAS with a 1 kt headwind should be 396GS, nope 406??

I’ve also noticed the discrepancies between TAS, headwind/tailwind component and output GS. I have a bug report about it here.

One question for you - was the altimeter actually 29.92? S59, is 29.62 right now. That would make your actual altitude 7200’. But a pressure altitude of 7500 and temp of 6°C is 111 kts TAS, so that part is correct.

Yes, I was using a clear weather preset as the live weather was pretty awful. I am generally a low and slow GA flyer to enjoy the scenery. And the scenery was beautiful FWIW.

And my apologies: I searched on ground speed and true air speed but did not find your report. I have now voted there.

Very beautiful - love that part of the country!

I have run into this as well but it has a simple explanation. TAS on the gps is calculated from the indicated airspeed, but the TAS on the outside view HUD or in the simvars are calculated from the calibrated airspeed (and that is the actual real speed).
