Thanks,
MSFS Team

(some ancillary information from ~200+ hrs in real life plus about the same in MSFS2020 for the G1000 model in MSFS2024)

*Default flap configuration appears to be at 10 degrees. Unless a short field takeoff is needed, typically flaps 0 is more than ideal as a default state

*G1000 Arm/Test light does not appear to illuminate when placed in test mode (In real life checklist item)

*Preflight checks are very abbreviated and does not include elements checks such as Antennas, Verification of fuel in tanks (fuel sticking), sump points (5 on each wing, 3 under the engine), security of the trim tab, etc. Did not have the time to see if cabin checklist items are also incorporated.

*Attempting to prime the engine (under a cold start condition), the fuel flow rate (having the throttle opened slighty, 1-2", with a increase of mixture, holding the mixture full rich for a min of 3 seconds, with the fuel pump on, then full lean) does not appear to reflect the flow
(Would recommend if a developer revisits the C172 model, consult section 4, pgs 6- 17 of the Cessna 172 Information Manual (Model 172R)

*Attempting an engine start under mixture idle/cutout, the engine should make an attempt to self sustain (even if there is limited fuel available to the engine)
In real life, the lycoming IO-360-L2A can be started in a idle/cutout position, as such the mixture can be advanced to full rich once the engine starts to kick over, with the throttle fully open.
The reason for this approach is to prevent over stressing the engine (as idle is ~1000 RPM). With the this approach, the engine kicks over around 500-600 rpm

There’s an electrical problem with the steam gauge 172. The starter, electric flaps, GNS530, transponder, and ADF are non-functional, even when starting hot on the runway.

Yes, I am seeing this as well, with the default steam gauge c-172, lights dont turn on, AP and transponder dont work

Hate the brief low res blurry interior graphics every time I swap from external view to internal view- a real immersion killer.

Also the basic (analog) cockpit C172 won’t allow me to start it from cold and dark using the correct produce that is tried and tested on MSFS. Have attempted to start the aircraft 15+ times over the last two days but the engine won’t turn over.

The fuel pump as well.

I spent 15 minutes trying to figure out what I was doing wrong until I determined the airplane was having a legit electrical systems issue.

Same. No avionics except for the 430, which I can’t adjust any frequencies. Can’t start C&D with the standard procedure that I’ve used many times.

Ridiculous.

This aircraft is amazing nice job! Beautiful model its just perfect!

50% of the time I have NO engine sound when starting using the Cessna 172?

Anyone else have this issue…Also in other planes eg. Baron

The fuel selector should be on both and the essential bus armed as default after-startup settings. Plane symbol on MFD is missing.

Makes me wonder if there is any quality control.

Oh good, I found this without making a new subject.

This is about using the Cessna 172G1000 in Free Flight mode. Here’s my problems:

1: How to get rid of the copilot.
I’ve tried setting the seat weight to 0 and I can’t find any setting to make the copilot optional. In 2020 setting the seat weight to 0 kept the seat empty.

2: How to make the heading bug adjust in 1 degree intervals – it’s currently 10 degrees. I’m using the Honeycomb Bravo for this and other autopilot functions.

3: How to keep the registration on a plane from flight to flight.
I try to use my own registration – eg: C-GZZZ – but every time I start a new flight I get an entirely different one.

I agree about the horrible interior textures when flipping from interior to exterior to interior.

Other than that I like how the plane handles.

I thought i bought the Aviator Edition of FS2024, but after the sim installed, i dont even see the C-172 steam gauge in my aircraft library! All i see is the C-172 cargo. Its almost impossible to even figure out if the FS2024 version i have is the Aviator edition, or do i need to go back to the stupid Xbox app, and make sure i dont have to install some other add-on.

How were you able to select your C-172 steam gauge aircraft ?

I only see the Steam Gauge 172, but it’s only about half functional at this point. I can’t even start the engines normally and only about half the gauges work. I assume (hope) Asobo is aware.

  1. Doesn’t seem exclusive to the C172
  • Might be something with the sensitivity in the controls (haven’t messed too much with the A/P, more on the Throttle and mixture axis; In the first PPL lesson, it would randomly cut the throttle, I must have spent 1/2 hour seeing if any-other input was conflicting with the throttle axis, only to chalk it up to a ‘feature’ (as a side note the flow of the PPL side of career mode does seem a bit haphazard
  • I wonder If (when Real sim gear is able to test and push updated drivers), if the issue can be bypassed
  1. Not the only one (I prefer keeping my 470U)

Didn’t the 10 degrees heading bug problem exist on 2020 as well?

Steam Gauge 172 is pretty broken right now. Many systems don’t work including the GNS530, which several people have mentioned here. In addition to what has been mentioned, I also noticed that the pedestal, instrument, panel, dash lights all aren’t working in it. You can turn the dials but they don’t do anything. I hope that Asobo are aware and working on this, because the Steam Gauge version is my favorite and what I usually fly with. RealSimGear should have their integration stuff working with 2024 soon and it would be nice to have a working GNS530 in the sim to go with my RealSimGear GNS530 once that’s working in it.

I think eventually this sim will be amazing, in the meantime, happy I still have 2020 until they get the bugs worked out.

Deep bug with weight and balance data. Empty cg nuts.

No. I’ve been using the C172 G1000 for the past month to get a feel for it and learn what I could using the G1000 itself. In 2020 choosing the Heading notch on the left knob and the turning the +/- knob on the right knob (Honeycomb Bravo) caused the bug to move in one degree increments if turned slowly. Sometimes I’d get impatient and turn the +/- knob too fast and the sensors would get ignored making the bug pause.

You can get rid of the copilot be deselecting the copilot in the customize appearance menu. That said, you can only do that from the main menu, which is a bit frustrating.
