I had a flight around Sion LSGS, Ultra settings, TAA, real weather.
Man You gotta see this. Who loves VFRs he’s gonna have real fun with MSFS2024.

It’s a little… heavy. I don’t know if “heavy” is properly the right word, but it’s not fluid, so to speak. I know that it’s supposed to show issues in its first days, and that’s ok.
However, I believe that Microsoft staff didn’t deal with it in order to manage its troubles. The release was absolutely a mess, nobody showed up to speak to the community, things like that.
The nearest problem is internet connection, anyway. The game simply loses the connection from time to time and never connects back again, even with a strong network speed.
I believe that one of the most important things to do before a release of this size is to stress the network, or cloud, whatever you’d like to call it. There’s probably over then 15 million people trying to enjoy the game, since it was very expected. In order to solve it, Microsoft has to define an action line: make the cloud server optional (if you want to keep files in your PC, that’s fine) or work hard to solve the connection issue.
Just to remember: MSFS 2024 doesn’t work without an internet connection.
Had two flights.
1st KAUS-KATL. The MAX’s radio pedestal was dark. Couldn’t enable traffic, set the barometric pressure to STD or CTR on the EFIS control panel. Landing into KATL became a slideshow. There was random traffic at the gates. It also seems like the live traffic is spawning random AI traffic that causes the gates to launch into the air. Maybe they’re trying connect to hot air baloons? Especially, given that I saw a Navy radar sitting at the gate at KATL.
2nd Flight
KATL-KJFK. The INIBUILDS A321 is defintely more matured then the A321. It had a better system fidelity than the MAX. However, randomly I started getting extreme stutters that made eveything shake with the touch of the mouse view. I eventually managed to take off from KATL. At this point, I had turned off Real Time Traffic as I couldn’t stand the randomly picked aircraft. I managed to get all the way to KJFK.
Performance issues. The extreme stutteres remained occassionaly during cruise and descent. They became a real problem on short final. As I went over the threshold everything became a slide show. I ended up crashing into the runway as I had lost control with the stutterting.
So, I’ve not had a successful flight in 2 days…
Having some Multiplayer Issues.
A reminder that LIVE weather sets your MP to LIVE and not All Players, if you chose custom then live inside that you can do live weather and all players.
Weird, but works.
Rotors not syncing on helicopters is immersion breaking.
However, game runs well, looks amazing, have flown in several countries with friends and it’s been a blast.
Very Good.
It loads better but it’s a CTD fest. I have yet to complete a flight. Lots of missing liveries and a few planes here and there but they have been slowly showing up. CDMU in a320 is kind of weird.
I can’t even get past the familiarization flight I can see the upwind end marker but it’s 3400 nm away and it’s hugging the airplane
Take your blinders off, friend.
Is anybody able to load a flight at EGKK and tell me if they have any buildings rendered at the airport please. I just have jetways with out terminals and I suspect it is to do with some unwanted 2020 add ok that is now in my 2024 library.
You can change that by adjusting the “Freelook Speed” in the Camera control popout. I found 30 works pretty well (default is 50).
I loaded a flight there and did see buildings. I don’t know what you are looking for, but they are like the buildings at other airports.
Just did A flight out of LGA around NYC and NJ in the C172. Set TLOD to 400 to check out what FPS I would be getting. 48 FPS without frame gen on Super clear and butter smooth. With frames gen on 78-80 FPS and same clear and smooth experience. TAA rendering. I’m running the sim with 9800x3d paired with a RTX4090 and 64GB of ram. I think the servers are finally starting to stabilize. I know they are still working on some issues, but it is improving.
Yesterday was messed up. Today everything is working fine. 1:45 to load up sim. Excellent fps and graphics, fun flying a Beechcraft Baron 58. Set up my controller mappings for 6 controllers and a bunch of aircraft pretty quickly. It’s easier than 2020. No CTDs, performance better than 2020 just using default graphics settings.
Default aircraft are ok; certainly lots of them with Premium. Hopefully PMDG gets theirs in the sim shortly. Taxiway lighting way over saturated everywhere. Airports look fantastic. Career mode didn’t work.
Navigation between flying sessions, main menu, desktop is a few seconds- so much faster than 2020.
I have 130 addons - definitely will be a process getting those into 2024 over time. No hurry.
Worst thing for me so far is the fact that it appears ALL scenery has to be streamed so no matter where I’m flying, it’s not pretty. Ive got a 150mb internet connection.
Other area that is a drag is the controller setup. Someone mentioned you need a masters degree and I’ll admit it’s a non-intuitive. I’ve got most things mapped but really want to see some documentation. I’ve got alpha, bravo, and Charlie from honeycomb. Nice would be if they made some import from FS2020 tools for controls and sim settings where the settings exist in both systems. I fly VR exclusively with an HP G2 and a healthy intel 14900k system with a 4090. Performance wise in VR with most settings on ultra is pretty good just like it was in 2020. They just need to work on getting the data to stream faster.
I’ve been able to get past the loading screen, however the game will crash after running for about 5 minutes.
Earlier, I was able to select an aircraft and get into the cockpit, only to have the game crash when I pressed the button for “External Power”.
Update: I got the frame rate up to 20fps and it’s useable now though not as smooth as should be. I reduced only the Render Scaling, to 50.
Yes the same as in 2020. Go to setting and one of the tabs is developer settings (I thought the one before the last at the bottom)
You switch it on and get then developers menu
Well, finally managed to get a flight started …and I must say I was impressed!
Just the C172 (Free flight) and spent most of the time tweaking the control settings…but first impressions were very good, smooth graphics and flew nicely!
…lets hope it settles down now and gets even better!
flying now,
getting used to graphics, looks a little more angular compared to 2020
some stuff is really detailed
MSFS 2024 has been fantastic for me so far. I flew 4 flight in VR and they were smoother than MSFS 2020 (I5-12600k and rtx 4070) I am looking forward to watching how others set up key binds ect. and have not even begun to check all the new stuff. I had five hundred hours a year in MSFS 2020 and can use both now.
