MSFS2024 Fix VR Pilot Camera View Positions

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
the default position of Cockpit VR views for default aircraft seems really off. i am hoping that this could be addressed in the upcoming updates.

1.Enter VR Mode
2.Cockpit view in VR is in off position

As a long-time VR simmer, I’m extremely disappointed to see that, in MSFS 2024, the issue of incorrect and inconsistent VR pilot positioning still hasn’t been addressed — not even for core aircraft.

I can’t understand how this slipped through the cracks, given how minor a detail it is compared to the complexity of building an aircraft for Flight Simulator — how is it possible that a single coordinate isn’t correctly defined or part of Asobo’s quality process?

The core problems:

  1. Default VR pilot position is completely wrong in key aircraft
  • In the Boeing 747-8, the VR pilot is spawned 30 feet above the aircraft, outside the cockpit entirely. It’s not a small offset — it’s a completely unusable position.
  • In the DA40 NG, the pilot is placed behind the rear passenger seats, and can only move slightly forward — not even close to the correct seating position.
  • Several other aircraft have varying degrees of this issue, but these two stand out as particularly broken.
  1. There is no way to save a corrected VR pilot position per aircraft
  • There is no in-game interface to tweak and save your VR position, despite this being an essential part of immersion in flight simulation.
  1. No access to fix camera configuration
  • For default and Premium aircraft like the 747-8 and DA40, the camera configuration files (Cameras.cfg) are encrypted. Users cannot correct the problem themselves.
  • We’re completely dependent on Asobo to fix the positions — but years later, the problem still persists.

Requests:

  • Please fix the default VR pilot position in every aircraft.
  • Provide a simple in-game tool to adjust and save the VR pilot position per aircraft.
  • Consider exposing camera settings to users, even for default aircraft, so the community can fix and share better configurations if necessary.

Why this matters:

VR is all about immersion. Sitting 30 feet above the 747, or stuck behind the seats of a DA40, destroys the experience entirely. It’s absurd that in 2024, a flight simulator this advanced still does not allow VR users to simply sit in the right place — and to save that position for the next flight.

External tools like OpenXR Toolkit help, but the fact that the default simulator still does not let a VR user simply sit properly in a cockpit and save that position is a serious oversight — especially now that OpenXR Toolkit is no longer actively maintained and could disappear at any time.

Please prioritize this.

Agree, you would think it would be a very simple fix
