[MSFS2024] Fokker F27 Friendship

Indeed. The Ini one is visually nicer with a passenger cabin/seated pasengers etc and is FS2024 like in nature. But I hate the layout for NAV1/2 for VOR nav. I reaaly don’t see the point in there being a mandatory GPS in this era of aircraft. They needed to have switches to switch in and out GPS and have a standard CDI & NAV panel. The Freeware one is much better in this regard. Especially as NAV2 CDI is curently bugged in the Ini version.

The only other gripe with the Ini one is as everyone is pointing out, the very narrow band between stall and full climb power. The freeware one doesn’t behave like this, so something is amiss with the prop feathering as has been suggested.

The Ini one has an EFB, the freeware one has options in two ‘click to open’ manuals.

The freeware one has a French cockpit labels, but that changes to English cockpit labels depending on livery.

There’s also quiet a few liveries availabl for the Freeware one as it’s been around longer, but they may not work in FS2024.:man_shrugging: Downside is it’s a FS2020 native aircraft, but it does fly quite well in FS2024, and it does have quite a useful reference manual. Also it is a -500 model, not sure about the Ini one.

I have downloaded it now - you are right, the manual is excellent so I will need to have a good read about it. :+1:

Now that I have the other manual I will take a good look at your info - thanks.

Good for supplimemtal info. Be sure to read the “EN2” English version as the default English manual is for the French labelled cockpit/version, confusing! . The other option is the French manual which may be fine depending on how good your French is.

My French is pants! Luckily I picked the right one as you suggest :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

That free F27 is a truly amazing add-on. It’s so well-made that it’s hard to believe it’s freeware, and the features are excellent. The only downside is that it has a few critical bugs in MSFS 2024, which is a shame. If it weren’t for those issues, I wouldn’t have even considered buying the iniBuilds F27

What are the main bugs in FS2024 with it?

To be clear, these bugs are specifically related to the Fokker F27-MK500 found on Flightsim.to. Please keep this in mind to avoid any confusion.

- Cockpit interaction system must be set to Legacy to make these switches work (probably forgot to mention some):

  • Emergency exit lights

  • Inverter / Conv. 3

  • Eng. Start Master sw

  • Sel. engine switch

  • Checklist “Look at” HP lever when starting engine 1(left engine) hightlights HP lever for engine 2

If you start Cold and dark:

  • CRS does not work. Knobs turning, but numbers always 000
  • RMI & HSI does not work
  • Altimeter & ADI stops working a few minutes after engine start
If you start on runway With engines on it works. Even when you turn of engines and all system. On start again it all works.

So that’s the bugs in FS2024. I take it all that is working fine in FS2020. Good to know thanks.

Well, this is annoying - I can’t align the OAirTemp with the terrain ALT to set the fuel Datum because this (below) has not been activated in the aircraft! (and should be on the R hand upper panel not the left)

And yet these fuel trimmers have! Is there somewhere else in the Ini version that one uses to set the fuel trimmers (TGT) to the correct value?

I now have a copy of the freeware one on flightsim.to where it shows that down is OFF and not On

Anyway, it should only be used in T/O and cruise.

The more I read Bgaurants manual about his free aircraft, the more disappointed I become at the 3/4 featured F27 and poor manual from Inibuilds. Honestly, this feels like it was just rushed out of the bag and now Ini will not even fix stuff because it is no longer their problem. I do not understand why when these jobs are commisioned, there is no onus on the dev to fix it for a few updates until it at least has the features they do include in an operational state.

I bet there will be one update. Maybe not as big as were hoping for though. It’s very typical of the whole FF/LL approach though. The 707 was a great example, it stood there broken from day one and it took a over a year to get one tiny update for it for LE flaps which didn’t work from first launch. I’m thinking Ini updates this faster, but perhaps just only glaring bugs rather than any feature updates. If you find a repeatable and provable bug, report it officially. Otherwise I’m not sure they will pay any attention to anything we question or report in this thread.

I tried and got an answer that basically “said” it was no longer their problem to fix it - see here-

“Your probably better off going here [MSFS2024] Fokker F27 Friendship As mentioned in another thread her…”

For all the use this was, directing me back to this forum!

I just hope for their sake the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar redeems them or else I will never bother with a product of theirs again.

Well it’s officially a MS product fulfilled by Ini. It’s been this way for all official FS aircraft releases regardless of the dev. It’s up to MS based on our feedback to push for changes. Hence Ini being stand off(ish) about a direct approach. The only way to flag a repeatable bug though is to raise a bug request on here, but not necessarily on this thread though (maybe just for info only) where it will likely go unnoticed except for those of use here reading through this. Ths isn’t an official bug thread. I can’t remember any thread apart from actual unique/specific bug reports that have resulted in bugs being fixed.

Hi,

For those who want to create some paints, I’ve just updated the paintkit, it now includes LOD00 model and a few custom extras, see the changelog for more.

Also, my first livery is up on the site, it’s still pending, but hopefully it’ll be available soon.

Having read most of this thread think ill go for the dot to version. Especially because of the shortcomings with the ini version and the general consensus that they will be unlikely to fix most of the bugs.

There is a mod in flightsim.to that has the French labels changed to the English lables.

Bgaurant | Fokker F27-mk500 | Texture improvement | 4K | English language - Aircraft Enhancements for MSFS | Flightsim.to Bgaurant | Fokker F27-mk500 | Texture improvement | 4K | English language - MSFS Add-on - Flightsim.to

I have been flying this alot in 2020, how does it work in 2024?

I remember hearing that the VORs dont work in 2024? Is that still correct?

Its an amazing aircraft that is freeware …

Reading about inibuilds short comings..

Makes me want Just flight to look at bringing their complete F27 package and their Hs748s into msfs!!

If there is one thing that really does annoy me with this….

We dont have many propliners I dont know why…?

I honestly feel that a metro, B1900, Hs748, J32 and a dash 8 100-400 series would absolutely sell like hotcakes…

What we do have though…

Is a ATR42/72, a Saab 340 and now a fokker f27…

All of which has one thing in common…

They are all highly sought after aircraft msfs/Asobo brought from a developer and placed into the game at some pretty poor levels of completion and they all have one very annoying and sad trend..

The rate of updates to address bugs are incredibly slow… A situation where the developer is stuck between a rock and a hard place regarding what Asobo/Microsoft allows especially regarding $$$ rights…

The ATR most worryingly has resulted in a well respected developer in the name of Blackbird simulation hanging up what could have been an amazing well supported product and… just as sadly

The Hans/Asobo/Aerosoft ATR even for msfs2020 let alone 2024 is still in a sorry state

The woeful Carenado Saab is definitely one project that has annoyed me the most in that… in a world of amazing defult aircraft like the airbus H113 with all the doors and hatches that open during the walk around…

For a premium version we payed extra for….

The Carenado Saab 340 with no doors that open unless you use a thirdparty mod, which you then find that the cargo door opens up to a see-through square.

Thankfully this has not resulted in Nextgen in stopping its development of their Saab project…

Now the F27……

Has it ended any thought of Just Flight in developing their FSX Fokkers in the future???

I already read that there are many short comings with this aircraft, there are many inop switches and it appears to be that this F27 could be modeled on the limited production run American licensed version…

Inibuilds is a great developer that really does seem to be pumping out some amazing products at the moment and I honestly felt they could have done an amazing premium version of this aircraft that could have seen all of the F27 variants in all their glory on msfs…

Yet…

This is what we got…

A licensed msfs aircraft which..

If going off the ATR, Saab and hell, the YS11…

Is a cheap half baked and in a poor buggy “half of the key switches are in a inop” state of release and who knows when we might even see a glimmer of an update…

I just want the actual Microsoft company kow that..

If you made these products… 10, 20 or even 40 more than what you sell them at…

If that means that the relevant developers sign a contract that allows the developers freedom to “contractually binding” ensure that the product is fit for purpose and most importantly.. unlimited access in updating the aircraft ….

I would be more than happy to pay that for a product that is in all pure honesty… a “advance study level” airliner, aircraft of this caliber, like turboprops and jet aircraft.. (A310)

Not matter what one says…

The Saab, F27, A320 and A310 no matter what they call it..

These aircraft are essentially aircraft you NEED to know how to turn on.. they develop these aircraft to the point of having to go through all the systems and flows to turn them on regardless of if msfs call them “entry level” aircraft…

You still have to know how to upload a flight plan to the FMS…

The A310, Saab 340, ATR 72, YS11 and now the F27…

Built by good developers… especially inibuilds with reputations at stake…

I hate inibuilds for the fact that they make amazing products but their msfs/Asobo licensed aircraft (which are highly sought after) just feels like a cheap and systems simple especially the efb.. throw away junk.

If Asobo and inibuilds turns around and says… look we will update this properly and have inibuilds provide the same length and level of updates and quality that they give to its inhouse “premium “ products ..

If it means a fully functional product and potentially a full variants package… I’d be more than happy to pay 30,40,50 for that privilege.

I just hope that Just Flight sees pure potential in the F27 and they do it justice with the full variants package!!

Because…

what i read here vs the amazing Bgaurant freeware F27…

The Freeware Bgaurant F27 leaves this one in the dust apart from the cabin and unless Asobo gives inibuilds an opportunity to fix the F27.…

Because inibuilds has such a reputation at stake now…

We should be asking Asobo that the F27 and hell… the A310 (look we will let Asobo and the “gaming community” have the A320 in its current simple state..) But ask Asobo to increase the price on the F27 to like 40 or 50, turn the A310 into a paid product and get inibuilds to actually developthese aircraft into the level of system detail that their inhouse products are at.

These aircraft are “advance level” aircraft that deserves to be “advanced level” quality

Going to be honest - didn’t read all of your post but there is a certain level of reality here right? It’s a baseline product, and support has to be paid for. You do the maths
