Hello all,
I am encountering a frustrating issue with 2024 at the moment, in which the performance seems to drop significantly when looking in one specific direction. I’ve attached a video below that hopefully demonstrates the issue.
Effectively, FPS/performance is fine, expect when you pan the camera to look in direction (in this case north). looking straight out of the flight deck and when looking south off the left wing there are no issues, however, you when you move to the right wing, the FPS drops and GPU usage spikes. The direction seems to be random on each occasion (maybe dependent on time of day?), you can see when you pan the camera in the flight deck where the drop occurs, and then it picks up again when you look away.
This happens across all aircraft in the simulator, and all locations. In the video below, I was over the ocean with no terrain loaded in, so I don’t think it is dropping because there is something being loaded in (i.e clouds, airports, buildings, etc.). I have had the issue occur with completely clear skies and nothing loaded on the ground, simply looking in one direction impacts the performance. To support this, I have sometimes had higher performance looking at more densely populated areas vs. away from them (ex. looking directly at a city or airport when in the air has higher FPS than when I look away.)
I’ve noticed the GPU usage spikes to 100% when the FPS drops, when it usually sits at around 80-85% otherwise.
Any ideas?
