If it makes you feel better it’s not improbable. Many old aircraft are equipped with a GPS to allow them to easily navigate today. Aviation is shifting away from ground based navigation and has been for quite some time now. Without a GPS you can be severely limited in some circumstances.
That’s true but this is a sim so why can’t we simulate both. Many of us enjoy the older equipment challenge.
AIRAC cycles. For example 10 years ago I could have taken a Cessna 172 with bare bones equipment for IFR into an airport that is reporting IFR with a VOR and NDB approach. These days that airport no longer has those and no longer can. They have been replaced with RNAV approaches.
Flying under VFR is another story however flying under VFR and using VORs and NDBs is becoming increasingly difficult as these are being withdrawn. Only a few will remain by the 2030s (at least in the US).
Yes agreed they are all going and have been since 2000.
My big however is this, since this is a simulator and not IRL, they didn’t need to remove all those facilities here.
They could have a legacy nav aid mode, even if it was just the 1 years worth of data that would allow one to fly in that era. How awesome it would be to fly in say 1970 in the PMDG DC6.
I know all the arguments about do they still have that data and how much would it cost etc.
I use this to add more nav aids, it works fine in msfs 2024. If you reload the database in LNM it’ll pick up the extra nav aids
Do all the 1sr and 3rd party aircraft fly these navaids very well?
No interactions with Navigraph at all?
I haven’t had any issues with any aircraft.
Navigraph I have no clue
If you really want Navigraph on, too, just make sure this package has a higher priority.
The aircraft fleet will receive a major update—both graphical and functional—at the end of this year and in early 2027, if all goes well.
Goniometric navigation requires the use of a chart as well as tools to locate the aircraft. So I need to create charts to print out and use with paper, pencil, protractor, etc.
I haven’t found the time to set all this up yet, especially since the frequencies of the historical transmitting stations were impossible to find; I’ll have to make them up or search for them again—that was the main reason it never got implemented.
Wow, how unexpected! Your 631 is a total masterpiece, as it is.
It is, easily, one of the primary jewels in the MSFS crown.
Thank you for all your efforts bringing this incredible historical aircraft back to life for us to experience!
thank u to keep working on this beautiful
Hi, any chance you could ask Asobo to implement more throttle binding capability in the control settings please.
We only have 4 in sim and engines 5 and 6 (or however they are preferably bound) just wont be recognised by my Bravo.
I and many others are not able to use A & O or spad etc.
Thanks if you are able to find a way.
I love this aircraft, she is very special ![]()

Maybe the Latecoere co still have some historical info on the VLF frequencies used in the day??
Tons of references in this article about early radar particularly around WW11
I’d second this request, and point out for those that have not read my earlier post that there is a wishlist item for this functionality that users can vote on if they so choose.
Have already voted ![]()
This has been talked several times since release, i know that very recently they talked about it.
That would be a great addition!
Not sure if this is doa-able, but if you are still restricted to 4 throttles, then perhaps allowing for the following bindings might be a viable work-around:
-
Throttle Axis would control all six engines
-
Throttle Axis 1 would control the outboard starbord engine
-
Throttle Axis 2 would control the outboard port engine
This would help with differential thrust for turning during taxiing. (You could swap 1 & 2 around if that made more sense) -
Throttle Axis 3 would control the center port and starbord engines
-
Throttle Axis 4 would control the inner port and starbord engines
This would give finer control of forward thrust duing taxiing
Through obviously not realistic compared to real life, I think this configuration would be better than the current setup.
I just can’t get 4 and 5 to register a movement at all to double bind. I would do that if I could but for me it is just not working.
At least if 5 and 6 were made to recognise a binding it would help so much.
I’m assuming on the xboxes and PS 5’s all the throttles go to 1 binding. I have 4 and can’t get them to do that. I have 1 and 2 and 3 to 1 binding and thought I could get 4, 5 and 6 to another - but no. They won’t budge.
It would be such a help if I could (and other) get these bound.
Great list of resources. Thanks!
