I cannot find where the program defaults can be set for the low, medium, high etc. resolution. I have looked but am missing it. Please nudge me in the right direction.

MSFSRon’s reply is the one you need, if it’s the “render” quality you need to adjust.
However, “resolution” can also mean the density of pixels on your display. That adjustment is on the same settings page under the option “Full screen resolution”… If you use full screen that is!
