MSFS2024 SU3 Missing up to 70% of Streamed Aircraft after installing well respected Addons

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

I know this includes installation of 3rd party aircraft - but PLEASE read below as this is a more general issue with SU3 that will cause Asobo and its customers much grief if not bottomed. Many thanks

After the Sim Update 3 update (I was not in the beta programme) there were a large number of Asobo and 3rd Party aircraft missing from the Free Flight List. I realised that it was alphabetical - all aircraft thumbnails whose names started after ‘I’ for ‘India’ were missing from the Free Flight list.

I did a full uninstall and reinstall of MSFS2024 and the Free Flight list of Asobo default aircraft was now visible again. I reinstalled the iFly Max8, which ran fine in SU2, and now, not only was the iFly737 not visible, neither were any Asosbo aircraft whose names started beyond the letter ‘I’.

I fully uninstalled the iFly Max 8 but, even after a full reboot, the missing Asosbo aircraft did not reappear on the Free Flight list - even though they were all shown in ‘My Library’ as ‘Streamed’

So I fully uninstalled and reinstalled MSFS2024 again (checked - all Asosbo aircraft were back on the list) and just copied 6-7 aircraft that I have used since MSFS2024 was introduced from my backed up Community Folder into the new one. Yup - none of the addons and 70% of the Asobo models again now missing from the Free Flight list

. Deleting all of the addons and returning to an empty Community Folder did not restore the missing Asosbo aircraft to the Free Flight list even after a full reboot the the PC. The only way to get them back is to fully uninstall MSFS2024 and reinstall.

Help on Discord reveals methods to confirm that all of the missing aircraft are still there:

‘Search Airplane’ on the Free Flight list will ‘find’ the missing aircraft which will then load normally

But this is a workaround at best.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

Every time I try to load certain (but unknown which they are) 3rd Party aircraft that worked perfectly pre SU3. The only solution, once the error has occurred - even to see just the missing Asobo stock aircraft - is a full uninstall and reinstall of MSFS2024

I had to go into my content library and re enable a lot of my add on’s to show up, but that was all

Yes - that was what I originally thought too. But the ones missing are Asosbo stock and streamed models and also fully enabled 3rd party ones. I’ve even tried Downloading and Enabling some of the third part ones or 2020 ones, which is now an option, but, while the Download went fine, they still don’t appear on the Free Flight list. It’s an odd one…

Which ones exactly are missing? For example, the Icon A5 or some other default Asobo aircraft?

Immediately after the automatic SU3 update, when scrolling along the Free Flight list, which is in alphabetical order, I was missing everything after the “ICON A5 - Asobo Studio”.

After lots of trial and error sessions of uninstalling and reinstalling, I realised that all of my Just Flight addons (Vulcan, Hawk, etc) would re-load up from the Just Flight website without wiping anything and likewise Fenix.

But the iFly Max 8 - which was great pre SU3 - doesn’t show on the available list (although I can search for it, find it and load it using the ‘Free Flight’ search bar) but, worse, simply installing it wiped all of the thumbnails on the Free Flight list after the ‘Robin CAP10 Asosbo Studio. This is what I am using presently.

Personally, I can live with that, especially as I know that the missing models are actually there hidden in the sim ( ‘My Library’ thinks that all is hunky dory with the Asobo streamed models and 3rd parties) and I can use ‘Search’ for those models I can remember. But I cannot risk loading any more of the addons I used to fly happily pre-SU3 just in case it wipes everything again from the Free Flight List (just to reiterate…if an addon does wipe out a load more, then simply deleting or uninstalling that addon does NOT restore the Free Flight list to its earlier state. It requires a FULL uninstall and reinstall of MSFS2024).

Hope that clarifies and many thanks for your interest.

On my side, the aircraft selection list appears as shown in the screenshot below.

iFly has always been at the very end of the list - I’m not sure why.

All of the thumbnails are showing for me after the Robin CAP10.

Yes - pretty much how mine looked too before the SU3 update.

Well - an update.

Two important steps forward:

  • I have a workaround to get to the aircraft that are presently not visible on my Free Flight list (and, for me, that is presently any aircraft with a title beginning with L to Z in the alphabet!)
  • For me, in that I primarily fly in VR, I have a full fix. But it’s a weird one as explained below…

Workaround:

For any of the missing aircraft that you know are streamed (Asobo) or installed (3rd Party), a fellow sufferer of this bug on another forum has found that the specific ‘Search Bar’ on the Free Flight thumbnails page WILL find the missing aircraft and allow you to load it. So, while you still can’t browse the full list, you can at least load an aircraft that you know you own and is enabled but is not visible on the Free Flight list.

Solution (for me, at least):

By accident, because even when I fly in VR, I usually load up the flight in 2D and then switch to VR before pressing ‘Fly Now’, I was still in VR when I wanted to try a different aircraft. AND I COULD NOW SEE ALL MODELS IN THE FREE FLIGHT LIST !! I reverted to 2D (I have a button assigned to be able to toggle) and all models with a title beginning with L to Z in the alphabet were once more missing.

I tried it again this morning with the same result:

When in 2D - the Free Flight list of thumbnails are missing 60-70% of Asobo and 3rd party aircraft

When in VR - the Free Flight list shows ALL models that I presently own.
