IMHO this has nothing to do with server load.
That the multiplayer GROUPS are not working, that is already since DAY 1 of msfs and it was even in the beta.
This function is simply BUGGED as hell and noboy seems to be able to fix it, which is a shame.
I am confident that Asobo has professional Software Engineers that could analyze and fix theses MP issues.
This is not new and ground breaking technology.
Other Game developers have working MP systems that are significantly more complex, and cater to a much larger group of players.. and MP issues just are not an issue that comes up very often with those systems.
However, if MSFSâs MP is based on, and just copied from FSX then it is bound to have issues of scale, so I very much doubt if it bears much resemblance to the old FSX MP system.
Whatever is causing the MSFS MP issues, no doubt Asobo has the t4chnical expertise to correct them â so its probably just a question of Priority, and return on investment.
Fixing MP is NOT going to impact increased SALES that much .. adding new CONTENT etc, and the PR Hype that goes along with such âFREEâ additions most likely is.
To most of us, MSFS is a HOBBY â to MS/Asobo it is a BUSINESS.. a very different set of values.
Yep. This is what it all boils down too. Iâm also guessing that the vast majority of customers never bother with multiplayer, or group flights or formation flying, so all in all, itâs only a small minority of their overall customer base that would want something like this prioritised.
Itâs quite infuriating though, as MSFS is marketed as being multiplayer friendly, However it clearly isnât.
When they have professional developers, then why havenât they fixed this more than 2 years old bug!
The multiplayer groups for example were NEVER usable since release and even in beta before release.
Priorities ? Maybe Ask Asobo in the next Q&A.
I have no answers, I am just a Sim User, like most here.
What gets me is the wall paper opening screen that just appeared showing three aircraft in formation which is plainly false advertising.
Its hard to think that this problem is still occurring well over a year since this topic was started. The bugs/issues introduced date back to the release of SU5.
Its not a question of being able to connect to Multiplayer or even a server. The issue is, when you are in that server - aircraft vanish every so often. One moment you could have 20-30 folks flying around - and the next moment - you are all alone.
It has to be related to server load. SE Asia does seem to be the most stable (even though it suffers the same problems). For the Reno races - the issues are far less - which sort of indicates to the number of folks on a given server.
Be it an Open Multiplayer or even a Close Group Session - these issues still persist - with no signs of any action/feedback other than the hashtag number making its way up the rankings.
It was addressed some months ago at a Devs Q&A but no word since then.
A temporary work around is to use a 3rd party program like JoinFS but really - I would love if MS or Asobo fix this issue. Theres nothing better than flying with your mates or meet complete strangers inside the world of MSFS.
100% agree .. Flying in MSFS is âenjoyableâ, but flying in an environment with other Human Pilots, is both realistic, and GREAT FUN !!
AI aircraft are OK, but the unpredictable response of other Humans is far more exciting !!
This is why services like Vatsim & Pilot-Edge are so popular, both services having their own MP system, where "Disappearing aircraft " just DOES NOT HAPPEN.. and where Aircraft âModel matchâ correctly as well !!
No, Murphy, the problem didnât started with SU5, its is since the initial release.
I tried 1 or 2 days after release to set the MULTIPLAYER (in the FLIGHT CONDITIONS) to OFF and then I invited my friends into a group.
It needed 2-3 MINUTES until they finally where in the group.
I was able to set a weater and daytime for all player in the group, which is a fine function.
But then suddenly one or two players disappeard and I could see, they were kicked out of the group for NO REASON. And I wasnât able to reinvite them!
And sometimes even I, as the group-leader, suddenly disconnected from the group.
The Multiplayer Group function is BUGGED as hell from Day 1 of the msfs.
And imho it has nothing to do with server load.
Was having this problem for a few days but what finally seemed to fix it for me was to go to Data options and turn off all online functions, the very top option, hit apply, then let a popup that comes up do its thing, then turn it back on and suddenly I could see everyone around me.
See if that works and do it anytime you start noticing disappearing people.
This works for me. Thanks
Sadly that only gives it a kind of a ârefreshâ. Soon enough people will start disappearing again. Itâs not a proper solution.
New Sim Update 12 but no improvement with this BUG
Please vote for this topic
For sure they have forgotten this feature, so nobody is working on it.
Maybe we should ask Jorg directly tomorrow in the developer stream.
Hopefully it will come to his ears and he can push this topic!
Lol in the best of all worlds, that would be great indeed, but in reality we already made this request to the Community Managers a long time ago now, and they never asked for it in a Q&AâŠ
Next sim update is in 5 months, but I guess we should not get our hopes up.
I think if they really wanted to properly fix AI, ATC, Weather and Multiplayer at a core level they would have done it by now.
This is a server issue, so this fix (if it ever comes) will likely get pushed at some random point in time. I highly doubt it would be part of an actual sim update. The last time they addressed it, it was all done sever side. Back then the issue was far worse though. They didnât completely fix it, but they did improve it. Obviously it still needs to be addressed, but like I said, I doubt if the fix will come as part of a sim update.
There is a fundamental problem with the multiplayer implementation. When they âaddressedâ the problem, they just increased server capacity so that the problem does not manifest itself that often. Really solving it requires changes on server side as well as in the sim software itself.
For me, the problem became apparent from SU5. We had massive group flights prior to that with very few issues. In the build up to SU5 and Xbox integration - thats when I first noticed problems.
As for the issue being server load or not - the last tweak or update applied to the servers brought with it massive improvements. Still a long way from being sorted but it did make things a little better.
MS&AS are aware of these issues and it was said directly to them during a developer Q&A. The reality is - its just not a priority for them right now to sort. It could be a 3rd party providing the servers (just like the weather) so maybe there is due process but for an end user - the MP service is not fit for purpose and should be sorted
I get the same issue but when Bush Flying. Even ones I have completed previously, other players donât appear.
I regularly flew with a friend when Bush flying and this has not worked since SU11.
Disappointed itâs not been fixed in SU12.
