Really hoping this will be getting some attention soon. With all the long-haul planes already in the sim.
I was wondering, though, why it isn’t possible for FSDreamTeam to replace the jetways in addon scenery (build in scenery is probably impossible due to encryption). Wasn’t it what they did with SODE in P3D ? They can already spawn their own objects, but there must be some hinderence in removing existing parts of the scenery or something, even if the scenery was created with the possibility? Perhaps the API doesn’t allow it. I don’t know…
The thing is it a big investment to do for FSDT and it’s not worth it for them to spend a lot developing it if the MSFS team might do it. If we get a straight no or yes it would be much simpler to decide for them
Absolutely. For the last few months the MSFS team is silent like fish as far as possible development plans go, ain’t getting anything out of their mouths. I guess we’ll have to speculate and speculate some more…
Would also be appreciated if Asobo upgrage many major international airports on their gates/jetways too. Big airports in FS24 like LTFM, OERK, OBBI, DNMM, DGAA VABB, VIDP, LOWW, LHBP (etc.) only have, at biggest, the Medium gates when in reality they are capable of handling widebodies like B777 and some of those even the A380s. The realism is missing here!
More than four years into Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024), and with a high-quality freeware A380 now available, the simulator still lacks support for multiple jetways. This feature was already present in previous simulators such as Prepar3D and X-Plane and is especially important for large aircraft like the A380.
While I understand that there are many priorities and that this may not be considered a major feature, I believe its implementation would significantly enhance realism and improve the handling of larger aircraft at airport gates. From what I understand, many of the required variables already exist in the sim’s current architecture, and this capability was part of the core engine used in past versions.
Isn’t it “just” to copy+paste the existing code for one jetway only?
Please consider adding support for multiple jetways in a future update to further improve the experience for airliner enthusiasts.
Thank you for all your hard work and the incredible progress made with MSFS so far.
Best regards,
Timm
Please add the msfs-2020 or msfs-2024 tag to your post, depending on which sim your wishlist item is about.
I am hopeful this pops up in the SU4 Beta. I am respectful that Asobo have advised they want to focus on getting the Sim at a better position (since release) before adding in a majority of new features, however I also don’t want to feel like we’ve been shrugged off in the hope that people will stop asking for this and it will quietly go away.
This would also be a nice tie-in to go alongside inibuilds A380 given inibuilds’ support of Microsoft/Asobo.
I’d like to see this too but I’m curious on where the source data is to identify what gates can support multiple jetways. Is it avaliable at any gate that can park a heavy or is it custom built for specific gates? If the latter, can that information be found on LIDO charts?
I thank the OP for bringing this marvelous feature as a wishlist, hopefully it will soon be implemented, apart from the user aircraft, I can’t wait to see my AI wide bodies being served from multiple jetways. After correcting the SU16 aerial imagery downgrade, this is my number two fs20 in the list.
It would be highly desirable for MSFS 2024 to feature functional dual jetways again, ideally with full SDK/SimConnect control.
This would allow large aircraft such as the Boeing 747, Boeing 777, and Airbus A350 to be serviced realistically with two jetways (e.g., L1 and L2 doors) at major airport gates.
Benefits:
Increased realism for heavy aircraft operations
Compatibility with add-ons like GSX
Consistent gate setup in airport sceneries
Proposal:
Implement native dual jetway functionality in MSFS 2024
Make both jetways independently controllable
Provide SDK/SimConnect events so third-party tools can trigger them
