[Music in Aircraft?] I know flying is an serious business,

but sometimes my passengers want some music in the cabin ;-))

I am amazed that this is not possible.

Is it normal that planes like the Beechcraft Baron don’t have an FM radio / CD?

Well, an ADF receiver can be tuned to radio actually

Yes, but XM is becoming more popular and in the days before XM we could connect a portable CD player through the headsets. Now, there is bluetooth and music on phones. In FS2020 I put YouTube on in the background to my favorite music.

it would be nice to be able to tune one of the aircraft radios to music stations (as you can in your semi truck in ATS American Truck Sim)

I also just play music from my PC library at times but it would be cooler to be able to FF or change stations and volume on the aircraft radio in-game instead

It’s actually hard to listen to music over ATC talking. It’s similar to listening to your favorite song and your kids keep talking during the best parts.

ideally it would work like bluetooth in the newer cars - music plays - then is muted when your phone rings, receives a text, or the car makes an announcement - like when you change lanes loosely - or a seatbelt is unbuckled etc…same could be done for ATC chatter. More coding involved to ever see it happen but that would be the best way to have it

It is an option in all the real Garmin equipped aircraft. Can have music in the cockpit through XM satellite radio. Depending on how it is set up it will cut out when ATC talks, but can override this in some systems.

Would be nice if there was an add on to have a music playlist integration. Here is how it looks on the Garmin touch controller in the Longitude:

You can even switch between XM radio and external source…

(This is an Airbus helicopter EC-130 B4)

MSFS allows us to play sound from an external app while flying, it is not very CPU demanding so we can do the same…

It is not ingame but i post the link anyhows. Here you can easily tune in to local radio stations all over the world and it can help with the immersion.

I am still rubbing my eyes a bit here, but in a flight simulator and let’s be honest, a program where CPU cycles count, I wonder if music piped through headset from elsewhere is a better answer? Of course, if you have a dual input set with a Bluetooth feed then you can get pretty much whatever you need. For FSX, my headset does just this while I work with ATC, but in the wacky World of MSFS, where there are no working comms anyway, I just listen to music from my NAS (or stream) through my stereo, in the hope that one day we might be able to actually talk to somebody. Until then, my wireless Arctis Pro headset ain’t going to be doing much at all in MSFS.

Thank you for your various input. I will check it out.

Just tell ATC to sssh when a good track comes on.
