Music while you fly

While we navigate the skies, and enjoy the beauty of this simulated World, I wonder if like me and a good few others, that you listen to music as a background and what it might be? I find flight in all its forms, evocative, embracing and ultimately uplifting. Sometimes music alone can make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, but even more so when you are flying.

To make it more difficult, no more than three entries please.

Okay, I’ll jump in here. Someone else on the forum posted this several months ago, and I found it totally fascinating:

Listen to Live Radio from stations all over the world
 wherever you’re flying, for example.
Wonderful

[Edit - Don’t know why it defaulted to Yakutsk, Russia :slightly_smiling_face:]

There is also a great MSFS Playlist I found on Spotify:

Definitely worth a listen.

Well it would have to include

  • “Set the controls for the heart of the sun”
  • “Hergest Ridge” - in anticipation of the gliders coming and;
  • “Echoes”

Random things on my Spotify playlist. The other day, I was listening to Dido.

Yes I would have added Dido’s Lament, for sure. Heart breaking song by possibly the best English composer. Here’s but one of many versions - more contemporary than usual.

Now this would be REALLY cool if you could pipe it into the cabin entertainment system!

Bang on. My boss has instructions to organise Hergest Ridge as the background music when I go for my last, final and greatest burn up

Odd afterthought
We actually now live just down the road from Hergest Ridge as well.

These days I listen to Electro-Gothic, and I am revisiting Genesis (Selling England by the Pound era-not my era though, I am not that old). Editors are on my playlist too. I was planning on seeing them on March 2020, they were playing here (Athens, Greece), but then came covid.

Hmmmmm,

1.) Learning To Fly (Pink Floyd)

2.) LIFA (live) (Heilung)

3.) Hounds of Love (Kate Bush)

Über den Wolken muss die Freiheit wohl grenzenlos sein
(Above the clouds, freedom must be limitless) (Reinhard Mey)
English version

There’s an app for that :).

Thats exactly what i am doing, too! :blue_heart:

When I fly, my musical choice moves around, but as I said in the O.P. , music can make those hairs on the back of the neck stand up. There have been many that are above that do just that, but I also love classical music and three here from that particular fork, would be pretty much anything by Vaughan Williams whose work was so quintessentially British, Bach and from slightly more recent times, Einaudi. The musical space compliments what I see from the air beautifully until I screw up my NDB approach again and discover that the runway is 10,000 feet wide and 200 feet long

I would like to have Spotify in the game top bar.

In honor to my late brother, who was a pilot all his life.

3 personal favorites from different corners of the universe:

Mark Almond - Mother Fist Marc Almond - Mother Fist - YouTube
Rennaisance - Songs of Sheherezade Renaissance Song Of Scheherazade Live At Carnegie Hall - YouTube
Frank Zappa - Watermelon in easter hay Watermelon In Easter Hay - YouTube

But I always prefer to listen to local radio stations where I fly. When else do we have such a wide horizon?

Re 3): ‘It’s in the trees, it’s coming’ - wouldn’t you be flying a bit low with that track?
