Could you explain how you found out that the SimConnect polling rate was causing the stutters and what exactly you removed to fix it? This could be very helpful for others as well.
How did I find out? Well I had been removing my addons one by one, but because BBL is more of a utility, I didn’t think it would be the culprit. I know that USB polling rates to devices can cause stuttering if the signal is set too high. In this case, BBL is constantly checking the USB connection between the hardware and simconnect.
It’s even stated clearly on their addon download description, the software is in Beta and may be buggy. See this screenshot from the FlightSim.To download page:
I hope that helps anyone with stuttering issues. I went back to AFC Bridge and haven’t had a problem, granted that it’s not working on the PMDG 737 for some reason, but my other aircraft work with it just fine… MD80, and A350, etc.
In theorh, LNM could also cause stutters, eg, when you are using the VR panel for LNM, right? At least if you set it to update the plane’s position on the map too often.
If you’re referring to Little Nav Map, yes.. although I’ve seen this happen more with navigraph maps on the MD80. If I leave the Maps display open on the tablet, it’s constantly updating with the aircraft movement and it does induce a bit of stutter. This is easily fixed by just not leaving the tablet on that page.
Edit: Here’s a video of how smooth the sim runs now. On the reel it’s only running at 60 fps, but in-sim it’s at 100 fps.
