This may be obvious, but I have a pretty good system (3900x, RTX 3090) and get around 40 fps @ 4k, but I was still getting bad ~1 second long stutters every 30 seconds or so. The game was nearly unplayable. I turned off my NordVPN and the problem went away entirely. I’m not really sure why this is, but if you’re running a VPN and experience stuttering, maybe try turning it off and relaunching the game.
I had to uninstall NordVPN as it was interfering with Xbox (Teredo) and hence affecting streaming of data etc.
Apparently a known issue (not MSFS specific), but if it works to just turn it off for you, then that’s great!
I have issues with NORD as well. Sometimes the sim won’t hook up at all, sometimes it works fine, sometimes it hooks up but causes the periodic stutters.
I just turn NORD off when using the sim and it works fine.
Duh. VPNs do not have the same throughput and low latency as a regular connection, in some cases packets are bounced around the planet.
The latest version has Split Tunneling , which if you enable will allow you disable VPN for programs you choose (a bit like whitelist of trusted apps in your anti-virus program) Might be worth trying that option.
