My update that just pushed was for 1.13.17.0

Why did my update turn into the 1.13.17? Its 4.62GB large. Any ideas?

Seeing this issue around, have you tried checking the Windows Store/Steam for another update?

Here is a thread related to it:

Download ~1 GB update in Store first, then update 1.14.X will be available upon startup ingame.

Same here It’s 202 files to Update . I am done with 42 of them , mostly Planes, Airports and many landing chalenges … Mandatory Update ?

I got Standartd version from Store. About 70 Gb download , so 4/70 = 5.7% of downloaded content has to be updated . This will be a rough journey. Yes it will.

Updates should be selectable. What if I have no intentions to experiment a “Landing Challenge” . What if I never will want to land in “Sumatra” ? … An if I will, then I go to the “provided library” and download it at will.

Not everybody ownes a 500 Mb fiber optics connection.
I live in the country and depend on my Phone ¡¡

Bad design overall.

Imagine buying a car that every morning , before leaving to work , you have to pay a visit to the mechanic so he can check “everything is ok”…

Been computing and Fsimming since the 80’s.

Very dissapointing.

But it looks great , even on my Integrated Intel Graphics card on my notebook with minimalistic settings, ( that is because if i try to start with the Hardware AMD Radeon Card , MSFS 2020 wil DTC as describes in this forum). Go figure.

Greetings and be patient.

I’m having the same issue. But when I go into MS store, there is no update and instead just shows MSFS in the download queue with an error.

Disregard, I got it to work.

Thank you for the tip. Alright, the update is in my Store queue already.
This is like trying to save the princess at the end of the labyrinth full off hurdles…

I went to the store for 1.13.17.0 a few days ago, then just now the sim installed it again but 5GB. Now the game won’t work. Starts Ok but you can’t select aircraft or airports; also tried Chagual landing and it went CDT. I also took everything out of the Community folder but had the same issues.

If select airports on the map they don’t show up as selections above in the From and To boxes. And the Fly button stays greyed out.

Every single time they fix something they break at least one other thing. This is beyond disappointing. And I’m all out of sympathy and understanding.

[UPDATE 42 minutes later - I went to MS Store and it downloaded another 1GB update. On restart of sim I’m getting 1.14.5.0 looks like another 5GB. Here I though 1TB of SD memory would be plenty. Will post another update when download completed.] [UPDATE #2 - seems to work OK now]

I’m having this same issue. It downloaded a ~4GB update earlier today, and now the fly button is disabled.

I clicked the get updates button in the MS store, but there is no update in the store.

I think I just got myself into the same jam. Saw that 1.14.5.0 became available and so went to the Store looking for it. The update shows as being available in the MS Store, but refuses to download/install – if I click the download symbol nothing happens and it remains in the download queue. However, had other Store updates that downloaded & installed just fine.

So I decided to run the sim anyway thinking it would keep me at 1.13.17.0, but the in-sim setup still ran installing content for 1.14.5.0. This has never happened in the past. Usually, the store “outer” update is required first before the in-sim “inner” setup will do its dance.

Now stuck in limbo with a seemingly mismatched install

@Hester40MT - Hey, thanks! I’ll give that a try. My next step was to try updating Windows from 1909 to 20H2, but now it’s pulling down the cumulative update instead (or at least starting with that). It does seem like a bug that the in-sim “inner” update would still run even though the MS Store “outer” update did not – certainly leads to a confusing experience with 1.13.17.0 still being shown. I’ll submit a ZenDesk ticket for that

I updated and performance is worse that last version. Maxing out on one of the processors and now have tons of shudders. Last version ran very smooth on my system (in my BIOS). Flying around Toronto and only getting 20 FPS with tons of shudders. Only running on High, not Ultra. Not sure if this release will even run okay on Medium setting.

I did the Windows updates first, rebooted. Did some Dell Updates, rebooted. And then did the FSXX updates and rebooted.

Nothing like a Patch Tuesday (and fun fact Microsoft pushes Windows updates on the 2nd Tuesday of each month). Least get all of the updates out of the way at once. Rebooting now …

It does fit two categories. The upgrade did cause a performance degradation and this thread is about the upgrade.

I will be happy to also post the information there.

@Hester40MT - Sage advice on checking for updates first. Update is unjammed …

I filled out a performance bug as recommended. I will be happy to work with the team as needed to assist with this problem.

This is exactly the problem. The content for 1.14.5.0 should not have downloaded in-game unless the correct 1.14.5.0 executable (from the Store) was in place first. All the content that follows depends on the right executable being installed first.

In previous sim updates, launching the sim would immediately send you to the store to get the new executable (typically about 1 GB in size). If for any reason the store update was not installed, subsequent launches of the sim would send you right back to the store. It would not proceed any farther until the store update was first installed.

This time, (apparently), the sim skipped the “store check”, and went right ahead and started installing 1.14.5.0 content with the old 1.13.7.0 executable still in place, which led to many of the reported issues - “fly now” button greyed out, inability to select airports on the world map etc.

I didn’t have the issue. When the forums announce a new update has gone live, I always go directly to the store and insure the new update is downloaded and installed there before even trying to open the sim itself.

As for why you currently can’t get the store to install the new update, I can’t offer any advice. I have found the store updater is not very user friendly, and I often have to switch back and forth between “all” and “owned” content, and click on the “get updates” button several times before it will finally find, download and install the new Flight Simulator core file.
