My Xbox HOTAS T Flight One mounting solution

Months ago I purchased the Hotas through a classified add and shortly after it arrived at my door. Eager to get some use out of it before MSFS released for the Series X and S, I fired up elite dangerous.

Flying and using the ship for combat, exploration and one of my favs out in the black, mining. With so much controll in my hands it had a level of immersion unparalleled to the standard controller. But there was one problem, Stability.

For the past few years I’ve been sat infront of a desk, using a 4k gaming monitor with the xbox. This gave me plently of options to mount my Hotas to. As I noted when banking hard or just enjoying myself it’s frame would slide and twist on the desk top, not only loosing controll of the ship momentarily but breaking that immersion.

Soloution. I bolted it directly to the slide out draw that usually holds the keyboard. Well after months of playing, I’ve come to realise its a pain in the butt come pack up time, it can’t slide back in because it’s too high, I could mount the draw lower but that’s not practical ither. So I simply remove the slide out draw with the Hotas and store it on the table behind me. This was okay for a while but again not ideal because of the size and weight once removed.

Today I thought its time to make somthing a little more practical and get something done. It’s practically the same idea, the Hotas mounted on a length of Pine I had lying around. Made a few routed edges and cord guides so it’s not in the way of the controller, easily removed from the Sliding draw and much lighter and smaller to store. Winning.

Originally I wanted to route a channel around the outside and mount leds and pour in some resen. However the Hotas isn’t quite mounted where I’d like it to be to follow that design. May just paint it or wrap it in carbon fiber knock off.

The space between fits a 14" laptop or a Logitech keyboard (K400+).

Nice mate! Have you noticed any stability issues with the Hotas? Is it securely mounted or just resting on the board? I was hoping to have room between my setup for the keyboard but granted I often only use the mouse I may place it between the throttle and stick. Good stuff, any more about?

The stick is screwed on, using the two M5 mounts on the underside for each segment.
To know where to drill the holes, I used the “cockpit setup” scheme for the Hotas 4 (Playstation) which is identical to the Hotas One (except for some basis keys and the branding).

Make sure to not scale the image when printing it.

Couchmaster had been so nice to sell me two woodplanks(?) so I could drill one for mounting the Thrustmaster.

It’s sufficiently stable to not loose any fine control when mining in a high-res asteroid field.
