Nanaimo anomaly

Not ready to report this as a bug yet, but can anyone confirm the appearance of a scenery anomaly near Nanaimo, BC.

It suddenly appeared two days ago. It stretches from the coast near the city, across land and water, to the area of the cycd airport. I am not using the beta, just su9.

It does not matter if I have addons or a clean community folder. I do not use manual cache. It appears and disappears, then reappears. It happens in and out of developer mode. And it seems to be connected to building settings. Low buildings setting and it is not there. Anything above, and there it is. I fly from cycd every day, and this is new.

To check it, please take off on RWY 34 at cycd. Fly north for a minute until you reach the city and the bay. It kicks in as I get closer to the city.

What happens if you turn off Bing Maps in Data?

Maybe the Trans Mountain Pipeline failed to terminate in Burnaby and just kept going?

I opened a similar bug on this awhile back.

Thanks for the suggestion. It still appeared with bing data off.

Funny. If so they built it overnight about two days ago. - LOL

I can’t replicate this.

Since this doesn’t change with or without community folder addons, do you have any marketplace addons installed?
You also mention not using manual cache, but do you have the Rolling Cache turned on, if so have you emptied it?

Thank you for trying. No rolling cache. Nothing added in last few days which could change it. Unless someone can replicate it, or I can solve it, it shall have to stay a mystery, and I will have to find a new favourite airport.

Can you capture the coordinates with Dev Mode? You should be able to reproduce this by launching to the runway in Duncan and using the Warp To feature in Dev Mode. I flew over there last night but didn’t see the issue. I’ll try again with the coordinates.

If it shows, you would not miss it. When I take off from cycd rwy 34, part of it crosses the threshold as I am lifting off. It is about 200ft from end of rwy. Then it runs right to the city of Nanaimo, across some of the bay, it is miles long. But what is strange is that it appears and disappears as I pan my views as well. And if there is a pattern to it, so far it is going right over my head in figuring it out. Thanks for you feedback, I much appreciate it.

Could not reproduce. There are some terrain fixes coming in SU10. Try Friday Harbour KFHR if you have World Update 2 installed. It’s very nice.

Thank you for trying.

Ditto. I could not recreate this.

I followed your instructions and flew all around the city and bay, panning the exterior camera all around. Nothing. Sorry!

Nanaimo is in my backyard so I wanted to know if I had this issue too. I hope you can find a fix or report if the issue is still ongoing.

Thank you. At least I am getting the impression the issue is on my computer, not something Asobo may have changed.

Try one of the Graphic Presets (High -End, for example) and clear your Rolling Cache. Remove any terrain or scenery mods one by one.

I think it will take this systematic approach suggested by yourself to come up with a solution. Again thank you for your feedback.

Are you on SU9 or 10 beta. It seems to me I may have had this anomaly on SU9. I fly around there a lot and did a loop or two around the neighbourhood tonite and saw no anomalies. I’dm on the beta…so possibility this is just a thing in SU9.

Greetings Roger.

Thank you for your feedback. I’m using SU9 and have never been in the beta program. Funny thing is this, I was getting the anomaly last night. However, flying around there tonight, the anomaly is missing again. It is hard to troubleshoot something when it becomes this inconsistent.

Trust you are well.

Regards
Kenneth

Is there any correlation between the aircraft you are using, and when the anomaly appears?

Hello. I am trying different aircraft too. There are only a few I have used recently. If there is a pattern I will find it. It has gone past the annoyance stage and become a challenge!
