I know this topic has been beat to death, but I’m hoping to see what others are getting with a similar setup so I can see roughly how my setup should be performing.
I have a Ryzen 7 3700x running at 3.8ghz always, no boost, asus RTX 3070ti, 32gb RAM at 3200mhz, and 1tb ssd. Running the sim I rarely see above 20 fps no matter where I am at. Setting are a mix of medium to high, no ultra. I am only running at 1080p. I was expecting my system to run a little higher and smoother than 20fps with a bit of stuttering. Anyone have other tips and tricks I could try? I understand I’m likely cpu limited, but I thought I would get a little more out of it than I am, especially at1080p
There is this article from Zendesk on how to set up for performance. You may want to try Reflex Mode = On + Boost in the game settings. This requires you to be GPU bound, so turn up your settings, now down. If you are still not GPU bound, try Render scale 120% in the game settings. Restore defaults in the Nvidia control panel; there’s nothing in there you need. Vsync, Gsync, Freesync off when you use Reflex Mode. Keep Terrain LOD at 100 because this hits the CPU hard. Turn off all AI traffic, live traffic and multiplayer.
What is your monitor native resolution?
As @BigCow74 mentioned, that processor should be running better. I have the same and it always peaks intermittently at 4.3/4.4Ghz. And yes you should be getting better FPS, I run a 6800XT and I get more FPS than you. 17-23 on heavy airports with heavy airplanes, but normally between 30-40fps.
I think this is my biggest problem like you say. I built the system 2 years ago and have never seen boost. I don’t know if it’s a setting in my BIOS I need to find that isn’t letting it boost or what, but I think that would make a big difference. That’s a problem I’ve been trying to read about this week but haven’t found a solution to
Thanks for checking into those!! This is my first build so I honestly don’t know a ton myself haha. I’m looking to switch to intel in the future maybe when gen 14 comes out depending on how things are looking. I haven’t updated the BIOS at all on it so I’m sure that’s probably part of my problem, I just plugged it in and went with it.
Updated both my BIOS and chip drivers. The BIOS update seems to have taken care of it! I see it boosting up to 4.3Ghz now instead of being capped at 3.8. Thanks guys!
