Flight SIm 2020 - I haven’t been running FS for quite a while (always on Linux). I try to launch it today but it got hard stuck on the infamous “update” screen. After a lot of research, I was able to launch the game in “administrator” mode. For so many years there was no need to do that. Without it, the mouse doesn’t work in the sim screens. Is that a new requirement ? Can I modify something that I don’t need to do that all the time ?
Thanks
I would not treat that as a normal requirement. On my side FS2020 still runs without admin mode, so if launching it as administrator is the only way to get past the update screen or make the mouse work, I would suspect a local permissions or overlay/input-hook issue rather than a new sim requirement.
I would start by checking anything that injects into the sim window first, then verify the install and update paths still have normal write permissions. If you are launching through Steam or another wrapper on Linux, I would also check that the prefix and the game folders did not end up with mismatched ownership or permission changes after an update.
