New 'DLSS 4' (v310.1) is amazing in VR

Yes mate also works with VR, so feel free to share it with others.
I’ll take the liberty of posting the tutorial again below, as it might be helpful to someone.

Nvidia app is not required and in some cases, it may even be responsible for CTDs.

I decided to share what I did to get the latest DLSS models without using the Nvidia app, replacing game files or adding extra XML files.

  1. I downloaded the latest Nvidia Profile Inspector (version 2.4.0.8) from GitHub.
    https://github.com/Orbmu2k/nvidiaProfileInspector/releases/download/2.4.0.8/nvidiaProfileInspector.zip
  2. I ran Nvidia Profile Inspector as an administrator and, in the Global Profile, set 0x00000001 for the following settings:
  • Enable DLSS-FG override
  • Enable DLSS-SR override
  • Enable DLSS-RR override
    image
  1. set 0x00FFFFFF for the following settings:
  • Override DLSS-RR preset
  • Override DLSS-SR presets

  1. I clicked Apply changes in the top right corner to confirm the changes.
  2. I launched MSFS 2024 Beta and …

MSFS 2024_beta

MSFS 2020

If you want to see the DLSS version and “render preset” during gameplay, as shown in my screenshots, you’ll need to make changes in the system registry.

. You need to manually add an entry to the system registry. Copy the code below

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NGXCore]
"ShowDlssIndicator"=dword:00000400

paste it into Notepad and save the file as DLSS_Indicator.reg (not as a text file, this is very important). Then run the file and agree to make changes to the system registry.

If you no longer want the DLSS version to be displayed, you can edit the registry.

Open registry editor (regedit)
Navigate to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NGXCore

Double click ShowDlssIndicator
under “Value data” set the value to 0

Click ok and restart PC.

Fly safe.

My nvidia driver just updated today 1/31 to 572.16. Isnt DLSS4 310.1?

OpenXRTK is the OpenXR Toolkit, correct? I think support for this is discontinued. Are you still using it?

anyone else missing the Override DLSS-RR preset from Nvidia inspector?

After I posted I got the idea that previous setting in inspector was causing this so I restored default settings and now I can change it.

Affirm. Still using the OpenXR Toolkit as the PimaxPlay tweaks just don’t perform as well for my system. Also handy to have the wide range of tweaks in toolkit to change on the fly. Good example is the sunglasses option. FS24 can be a bit bright in full sunlight. Also like the FPS advisory setting better than sim developer counter and can move position it in VR view.

Yeah I’d download something from Russia. What could possibly go wrong?

This is best tutorial i found. Thank you. Can stop searching the webs.
this worked for me. thanks.
No nvidia app and with vd a good image.
My msfs 2024 never shows in dlls swapper so can not use it

i am still using oxrtk. Dont see any fps drops and the tweaks you can perform and fps counter is great. Its showing the real fps. Do you use the turbo mode still?

This topic has nothing to do with flying aircaraft in a sim but condesended into a technical DLSS free for all where people are chasing the dream…

Works in VR. glass cockpit numbers with dlss 3.1.1 and preset J where ghosting terribly, now using dlss swapper to dlss 3.1.2 and nvidia profile inspector (see image) everything is very smooth, crystal clear. Happy flying now, even with performance mode, low settings.

It could go wrong on any file sharing platform, no matter where it’s located. It’s a bit narrowminded that .RU is bad and .com is okay.

You’re very welcome.
Fly safe

Not using turbo mode atm. Was causing problems with older drivers but will try out with latest driver.

If you used the manual option before then you should be using that again. The APP isn’t working properly for MSFS24 (store version). Just be sure to use Preset J (K has worse image quality in MSFS)

So, did you try the new DLSS 4? As you where a bit sceptic about it.

Correct. This topic is about dlss. Maybe you should search the forum for a better topic that suits you?

@Ianrivsmith I followed your simple 7-step program that is also outlined in another forum mentioned in the 572.16 thread;

https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/663308-dlss-4-definitive-guide/

I used DDU in safe mode to uninstall my previous driver 560.94.

All seems to be working very well for me with msfs 2020 in VR using my QPro/rtx4090 with link cable, together with the same settings I was currently using, including running this with experimental dx12.

TBH, I can’t say this is a game changer, like I’m sure some YouTubers will soon say, lol!. I have noticed a little better cockpit and distance clarity, plus slightly smoother performance. Although all these were already pretty good.

Thanks for your simple instructions that even a 70yo senior could follow, lol! Cheers.

Ghosting is still here but a little bit improved.
