Hi all
How woud I begin to start a fresh flight in a a320 from a chosen airport to my destination using Simbrief for instance.
i have created a flight and whats the next stage in starting a fresh flight ??
Dont want to use the world map as want to start in an airport then try push backs etc etc
Sorry to be a pain but new to this
Barry
From the world map, you would select your departing airport and it will automatically put you on the runway.
So using the drop down below the departing airport, select a gate that fits the size of your aircraft.
This way you will spawn at the gate cold and dark.
I presume from this I would input info from Simbrief
Thanks a lot for this info
Barry
If I understand the question correctly, this is how I begin all of my flights (in literal darkness, as most are night flights). SimBrief does not really integrate directly with MSFS, it’s just used as an external planning tool and it’s more or less agnostic of the actual flight sim.
I first go to both SimBrief and LittleNavmap and set up everything that needs to be set up (origin, destination and alternate airports, aircraft type and performance, weight, fuel, flight plan, potential SID/STAR, cruise altitude, check airspace restrictions, local weather, route weather and SIGMETs etc).
After this is all done, I then launch MSFS and simply choose the aircraft, set up its weight/fuel and select the origin airport and parking/gate/ramp from the world map. Nothing else. No in-game flight plans, no destination airport, no SIDs/STARs in the world map, no cruise altitude, nothing. Sometimes I may enable or disable AI/Live traffic and multiplayer, but that’s all. I only use the world map to declare my origin and parking place.
I then click “Fly”. As soon as the aircraft loads with a cold and dark cockpit, I will then use all SimBrief/LittleNavmap data to populate everything (FMS, verify weights etc). And that’s about it.
ps: actually 90% of the time there’s lots of other stuff involved, as at the same time I may be using VATSIM, OnAir Company or local virtual aeroclub app, Simtoolkitpro, Navigraph etc. But the gist is that all of the initial flight preparation is done completely out of MSFS and it’ll often take more time than the actual flight itself.
Thanks for that, really appreciate it
Barry
Are you aware that you can very easily upload your SimBrief flight plan directly into MSFS?
When using the A320 FBW, it makes much more sense to load the FP directly from simbrief using the FMS. Or is that what you mean with “into MSFS”?
Yes, also doing that in WT CJ4. I’ll load it directly from SB only if it has more segments than I’d like to type in manually. For shorter trips I prefer manual input rather than ACARS style input.
Yes it is
I did see that you can transfer from sim to your aircraft in msfs just a few moments ago
Thanks
Ok so managed to choose a gate and aircraft is in darkness, managed to power up and on the computer most of the buttons on mcdu state N/A do I have to be in a certain mode to make this work…
also sorry to bother you, does sim brief need to be installed within MSFS or do you have to save the flight info within sim brief . just cannot get to the options to select user name etc
Sorry about this
Never apologise - we’re all Aviators - learning the ropes as we go. Making up History as we go along.
Fear not!
You’re in the best company and among good friends.
Check it out when you have a minute;
I use the “direct” method of loading the SimBrief plan into the fbw https://docs.flybywiresim.com/fbw-a32nx/feature-guides/simbrief/
Only downside is msfs atc see the flight as vfr as you don’t enter an arrival in the sim flight planner.
Take time to read the documentation on the Flybywire site. It’s becoming quite a complex aircraft to prepare for preflight but all the better for it
