New install after xbox gamepass trial, ive lost all saved data

Hi all, I hope you can help me with this.
I am a PC windows 11 user. I had a free trial on XBOX game pass and I downloaded and played the 40th Anvisary edition. After the free trial expired I bough MS Flight Sim and downloaded it again. When I view the SIM in the XBOX app it shows all my hours played during the free trial. When I launch the game from the XBOX app or from my taskbar all my user data is gone, in particular all my flight training is now at 0%.

Did you make sure that both MSFS Game Pass version and the version of the game you purchased were on the same Microsoft account?

Hi, yes, i’ve attached a screen shot here where you can see the hours played(during the trial). I press play on the top right. But none of the saved data is there.

If I understand correctly, the time spent in the game is displayed correctly in the Xbox app, but not in your profile after launching the game, right?

Yes, thats right.
In game its 4 hours, when I check my “log book” a lot of the flights from the trial are listed in there.
When I go to flight training its all at 0%…

This is a known bug and unfortunately we as users cannot fix it. I personally lost around 2500 hours of game time and there’s nothing I can do about it. If you have a system image backup that might help you restore your progress. If you don’t have a system image, try this: log out of the Xbox app and the Microsoft Store app, then restart your system. After rebooting, do not log back into the Xbox app or the Microsoft Store. Instead, launch the game directly from the desktop shortcut or the Start menu. If a login window appears, sign in . If the hours still show incorrectly, I suggest contacting support.

I’m curious why you purchased the 2020 version of the game when the new 2024 version is coming out in just a month and a half. If I were in your shoes, I’d ask Microsoft for a refund. If they agree, I’d buy Game Pass for two months and after that expires, I’d go ahead and purchase the 2024 version instead.

Good advice, Ill try that. I bought the 40th Aviversary version so that I could carry on from where I left off with the game pass.
One question for you, is flight time and training record usually carried forward to the next version of the game when you upgrade?

I asked a similar question regarding bush trips during yesterday developer stream on Twitch. Unfortunately, my question wasn’t read by the well-known Senior Community Manager.

If you decide to request a refund, I recommend that you refrain from playing MSFS 2020 until you receive confirmation from Microsoft.
