New January update causes CTD in VR

I have constant CTD’s since the Jan update, I am done with this game now. I wanted to play this sim/game on my weekend of, looks like thats not gonna happen. Asobo fix this stuff, the latest update broke a lot behind the scenes. The game has become unplayable for me while it as fine before this update (except for a couple of bugs introduced by SU7)

I have CTD’s while initially loading to the menu’s (although this only happened once)
I have CTD’s while in the menu’s (happened a couple of times)
I have ALWAYS have CTD’s after 1-5 minutes when I turn on VR (even when I launch the game in safe mode). There seems to be a really big problem with VR, your toolbar fix broke something else. When I turn on VR in the menu’s, I have CTD while loading into a flight. When I turn on VR after loading, it CTDs after a couple of minutes (also in safe mode).

I just loaded into a flight all normally (not in VR). Waited 15 minutes and everything was still fine.
I turned on VR, I got that annoying screen that it recognises my oculus touch controllers and I have to press default controller options etc etc., I closed the menu, THEN I got another annoying screen saying that VR controllers are not fully supported for this plane (its a third party addon), as soon as I closed that screen it CTD.

10700k
3080
32gb ram
Quest 2 on Oculusvr
Playing on Steam
I had CTD’s prior this update but those were all addon related and I managed to fix them

I have not any VR problems whatsoever in the new update. Apart from the annoying controllers not recognised messages, it works absolutely fine, even with a FPS demanding Kodiak.

Seems pretty reasonable to me at the moment.

Just 2 addons : NXI G1000 and Kodiak. Empty community folder
No nvidia tweak. Just some settings in Oculus Tray Tool.

Try playing regular instead of VR. Narrow down what is causing CD’S. I suspect the VR still needs work.

VR needs work. Never a truer word..

Its not VR that’s causing it, I’m getting CTD’s even during the start-up screens.
I’m currently in the process of doing a full reinstall and have had three CTD’s so far while downloading the content manager files.

During my update of 151GB, it stopped at 92% for 45minutes and then the dreaded BSOD. After rebooting, I had all sorts of issues getting the update to complete. I had one more BSOD (didn’t catch the code as I stepped away), rebooted and started it again but this time the update was 56GB’s. That got about to 47% or so and stopped. So what I did is, I reloaded my PC to 3 days prior, deleted Microsoft Store, reinstalled it Microsoft Store, and it updated FS2020. Now it works better than before including VR. Total time messing around with this, 6+ hours. There needs to be an easier way!

I also had a CTD in VR, but I only fly in VR so who knows if that is my issue. It had never happened before however. I was flying the WT CJ4 from Donegal to London City, and was descending when out of nowhere the sim just vanished. Performance seemed perfect up to that point. I loaded the flight with clear skies preset and switched to live weather after entering the cockpit. It’s a shame because when it’s running the sim has never run better for me.

VR running great for me.

Fixed by completely reinstalling everything (deleting the MSFS folder in appdata), which just took about 10 hours since it kept getting stuck on decompressing XX file. Just did a one hour flight in the kodiak and it was very smooth.

Not sure if this could be a CTD issue but i will share my main problem with MSFS. Over the past
several months i have had very few CTD’s during in-game flying during short to one hour flights. The
stutters are small but are still there occasionally in high photo rendered cities. The main issue I’m having and finally figured out causing the freezing is with Microsoft Store apps. It seams that if do not check for updates in the Store before starting the Sim it will sometimes cause the Sim to get stuck on the main start screen and will not let you start a flight. As soon as i update the Store apps everything is good? yesterday it happened again for the fourth time this year. Can someone explain to me why updating apps in the Microsoft Store could cause my sim to freeze? I am running the Steam version of MSFS, I did not purchase the sim through the Microsoft store. The odd thing is that all the updates in the store are for apps that are for Windows related items and not MSFS or any related items.
