I’m looking to buy a new laptop. Mine is 6 years old already. The one I saw that just got released has :
11th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-11800H
NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3060 6GB GDDR6 [60W]
1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive
But I have the choice between 16GB vs 32GB of RAM, but the laptop is already very expensive at 16GB that I would like to know if I can run the game at 16GB at high in 1080p and steady 30fps (I don’t really care about 4k 60fps).
I have an Asus predator 500 with specs:
Intel(R) Core™ i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz
32 GB RAM
NVIDIA Geforce RTX 2080 with max Q design
1TB SSD
Full HD screen
Runs everything smooth on ultra, apart from the occasional stutters after every update
I just set up a new PC (5900X, 3080, 32 GB @ 3600) and on ultra settings it goes over the 16 GB mark (even at 1080P) routinely. I’d pay the extra to go to 32.
And, as has been noted, that 6 GB of VRAM may be a bottleneck as well.
all depend son settings , my usage of ram neevr exceeds 7 gig in the sim, i play on low/medium settings.
but why a laptop, there will be the battle against overhaeting always.
for safety i would get 32 g now.
It depends on how far you are willing to push setting 6gb vram is enough for 1080p.1440p 8gb is preferable. Mine can use up to 7.5gb of vram at big 3rd party airports which is near vram capacity.
Stuff like LOD maxed out will eat your vram and ram.
All the 60series starting from the 2060 are 1440p capable specifically the desktop version. Don’t expect maxed settings 60fps on these cards in this demanding game.
Right now I have a GTX960m with 8GB RAM and 4GB of VRAM and I can run DCS World at Medium/High setting and Il2 Great Battles at High/Ultra.
So I’m trying to compare and it doesn’t seem that easy by reading what you are all writing.
Like I said, I really just want to get a steady 30fps and I will probably play in 1080p (downscale from the 3k display). Other solution would be to buy a Xbox Series X (That I was planning next year or later), but I don’t see my installing all joysticks and stuffs on my couch…
As Mortthe2nd says, I cannot think for one minute that running the Flight Sim on a laptop will end well.
As for the Ram, I use mostly High settings and the Ram usage is around 16-18GB so you would have to go high unless your happy with medium settings which you could live with as your only using a 16" screen.
Yes you can I have one just like that one? if you are going to run it on 4k it looks amazing not everything on ultra but looking amazing anyways, it runs great in VR I 'm running it on 90hz Oculus 2 i think I have 90 frames per second, but you need to adjust some settings when you are ready i can help you with that.
