New Offline Flight Planner with CHARTS!

I hadn’t realised that there was an offline flight planner at Flight Planner and they now let us view the LIDO charts. So now people not in the US can get charts without using Navigraph! Very cool!

Though when it auto-routed a trip from YPAD to YMML it used a BENDO fix on the other side of the planet which wasn’t great. I was able to fix the plan though without much effort.

The only issue with LIDO is they don’t support category A and B aircraft. So us light aircraft IFR pilots don’t quite get all the correct charts. It means some procedures are based on us using a heavier aircraft than we actually are. A dealbreaker for some but it can save us a lot of money instead of using Navigraph. It looks like they finally have at least a little competition.

I created a plan and saved it, but in game when i went to load plan from cloud, it isnt there. Also, there is no way to import a local .pln file. How is this supposed to be used?

It’s buggy. The in game one works better, but it has bugs too.
It will be great when they both work though.

I was so excited about this new feature when I heard about it. However, my experience has not been good.

First, no helicopter support? Even without helicopters the tiny amount of airplanes available is terrible. MSFS 2024 boasted about all of the airplanes available at launch (ie - pay more for this edition of the game)

Second, I want to fly to some smaller backcountry airports, many are not in the online planner. No helipads seem to be available at all.

I was looking forward to creating my perfect flight plan from my recliner then go play the game. My cockpit is set up for flying and not spending a lot of time creating detailed flight plans.

I sure hope this feature gets improved.

Wel, I have a ton of planes. But the aircraft selector has even less facility to organise them than before. Unbelievable.

LIDO is missing many small airfields, ones that I like to fly to. Thei charts only support C,D category aircraft so is extremely limiting. That’s what free gets us I guess.

I like the planner itself a lot. But I can look at large parts of Australia and see zero airfields where it simply isn’t true.

My hope is that they extend the LIDO data with data from other sources. I’m not expecting more charts. But at least let us use the planner for all those little bush airfields. Especially now that it seems bush flying was “a thing” in MSFS 2024!

Unless I am wrong, and I hope I am, you can set a user waypoint but then you can can’t move it to get it positioned exactly. You can click edit but that’s only for the name of the WP.

Also, theredoesn’t seem to be any type of ruler or way to measure distances.

can we make flight plans like we do in simbrief and send them directly to the MFD’s of PMDG or other payware planes?
