I’ve just got a new PC and installed MSFS2024. As of yet nothing has been added except the MSFS2024 updates yet the frame rates are horrific (up to 3 or 4 seconds to react to any input)
I’ve set everything to basic but still the same.
My system is as follows..Device name Flying
Processor AMD Ryzen 7 7700 8-Core Processor (3.80 GHz)
Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.1 GB usable)
Device ID B62B39A1-420F-45E3-8D7C-F4B58576E0DC
Product ID 00342-21627-66373-AAOEM
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display
My old PC is 12 years old yet runs so much better! I have exhausted everything I can think of so any help/ tips/ advice would be more than welcome.
Not really. I have my monitor plugged into the onboard GPU (9950x), and my VR headset plugged into my 4080 Super. The sim runs just fine on the internal GPU.
Well, without more information, it’s harder to point to likely root cause. One thing that trends a lot is if it’s an Nvidia RTX card and the user is relying on the full GeForce Experience/Nvidia App driver, the program is making decisions about graphics performance and quality that can detract from the sim. But without an idea of the GPU, that’s just a guess…
That is very surprising as the onboard GPU is rather slow and uses very slow memory. Something does not line up. It almost sounds like you have the two ports mixed up, I know that sounds weird, but it would totally explain everything.
The Radeon Integrated Graphics on the 9950X has 2GB VRAM.
I’d bet big money you can’t run the sim on the monitor attached to it.
Maybe other apps, but not MSFS.
Good think I didn’t take that bet. Turns out the Sim uses the 4080 Super but displays on the monitor via the onboard Displayport. I’m not sure how that happens. The mystery continues.
Correct. I always start SteamVR before starting the sim. So, when I looked at Task Manager, I always assumed SteamVR was using the 4080. You guys made me think twice about it. I have the iGPU disabled now with all connections going to the 4080. It’s a waste of resources the other way.
Thank you so much for replying. I’d not even noticed the GPU wasn’t being recognized by the system so I’ve been in touch with the company I got the PC from and they are going to ensure it is running as it should.
