New PC for MSFS2020

Hello, would this pc be ok for msfs-2020?
Would this last for 5+ years and support future upgrades? I’d like to have at least a steady 20 fps, at 1440p maybe? Thanks in advance.

That looks like a pretty good build there, although ther are a few things I would tweak if you have the money.

I’m not too knowledgable on my pcs but id reccomend spending a good chunk on your CPU. Right now I’m building my own as well and I’ve been looking around for a while now and the X3D chips are extremely good with gaming because of the 3D-V cache. While its not the gen 2 cache it still is very good. So if you can push out a small fraction from $200 up to $260 I’d reccomend the Ryzen 7 5700X3D, as this has the gen 1 cache.

As for the card I don’t know my AMD cards too well but from what I can see it looks pretty good. Although be careful about bottlenecks from the 7600 if your staying with it, as I’ve looked on the bottleneck calculators, and while people say you shouldn’t build your pc based on it, there is a good 25% there which isn’t good.

I’d really reccomend saving up to around $2000 or $2500 and spending it on a good solid pc for running the sim on mid-high settings as well. If you can’t do that for any reason it does look like a good build and you certainly have some good room for future upgrades!

That is a very explanatory reply!
So you’d suggest to opt for an am4 build instead of the new am5? Also the ddr4 instead of ddr5, right? I could push a bit more about money, but not so much for an am5 x3d chip

I would save money on the case, power supply and WD storage (which you can add later).
None will increase fps and cheaper alternatives exist.

There are simpler M/Bs, do you really need WiFi? Network cable is faster.

As for 5 years, nobody knows.

For a few bucks more you can get an i7-12700k. More cores, and you can use 4 sticks of ram without problems, so if you decide you need more ram, you’re good.

Intel now warrants them for 5 years, and a lot of people are buying them instead of the latest generation which doesn’t have as much performance.

Also, you might want to buy the retail version of Windows - you can transfer it to new hardware with no problems (also doesn’t complain when you do a cpu and motherboard swap).

Good suggestion about Windows, I haven’t thought about it. Also true about the ram sticks, but this cpu has 25mb of cache, instead of amd’s 7600 32mb, would it be a big difference? I’m now hesitating whether to move to a X3D CPU or a similar Intel CPU, due to the amount of L3 cache.

What’s more critical is your video card cache. The AMD has only 6 cores, instead of 8+4, so the intel chip can clear data faster.

My previous build (i5-12400/128gb ram 3 years ago) only had 6 cores and while it had good performance, the i7-12700k (also 128gb ram) performs at double the frame rates @8192x2250@60fps instead of 60fps.

Could have bought an i9-14900k but don’t want a useless NPU, and 60fps is good enough.

I recommend getting a retail USB copy of Win11 Pro, then following the steps in this video (customizing as desired) to modify the install into a debloated version. I’ve been running mine since October, and I’ve had no real issues, other than Microsoft trying to sneak Build 24H2 in on me about a month ago. A simple backup restore fixed that, and I haven’t seen it again.

Windows is leaner, and smoother. And it was very easy to start the install with a local account.

You can purchase a retail license for Windows 10 Pro and then upgrade to Windows 11 Pro at no extra cost- effectively getting two full operating-system licenses for the price of one.

Because you’re buying the retail edition, you don’t need a DVD or USB flash drive: all you need is the product key. Once you have it, just download the Windows 10 pro installer directly from Microsoft’s website (free of charge), install the OS, activate your system and you’re all set.

After you’ve activated and installed Windows 10 Pro, you can upgrade to Windows 11 Pro free of charge after some time.

At the end I decided to go with the 7600+7800xt, peerless assassin 120 se, asrock B650m pro rs, 5600 cl36 32GB Kingston fury beast, 500gb and 1tb Kingston SNV3s, seasonic focus 850 gold + atx 3. Windows retail version as suggested by all of you! In the next upcoming years, I might upgrade to a 7800X3D, but for now, budget is strictly to €1300. Thanks for everyone who replied me and gave me suggestions!
